Who is Patricia Sullivan?
By Dr. Richard Swier | 10/30/09 | 06:40 AM EDT | 14 Comments
I have been reading Ayn Rand's seminal novel Atlas Shrugged. In the book people keep asking "Who is John Gault?". Today we are seeing lots of answers to this question in lots of places. Today's John Gaults are people like Doug Hoffman a Conservative running for the NY-23 U.S. House seat, David Harmer running for the CA-10 seat and Patricia Sullivan running for the FL-8 seat held by Alan (Republicans want you to die) Grayson.
I believe there is a real grass roots movement in America that is not tied to party affiliation. Rather these 9/12ers and TEA Baggers are bucking party loyalties to find the most virtuous, non-political and real people to run for public office. They are looking at values and beliefs not a meaningless letter after the candidates name. For too long Americans have put up with career politicians from both political parties who have left you and me behind. These politicians favor gaining more power than giving that power to the people. Both parties today are left of center when you and I are right of center.
I take this opportunity to introduce you to a new conservative candidate - Patricia Sullivan. She is running against Alan Grayson, the Democrat incumbent in Florida's District 8. As she says in her YouTube video she is a reflection of you and me.
Ladies and gentlemen may I introduce Pat Sullivan a patriot from the great state of Florida:
I remind you of the famous words of a real Conservative, former Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater:
"I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution ... or have failed their purpose ... or that impose on the people an unwarranted financial burden. I will not attempt to discover whether legislation is 'needed' before I have first determined whether it is constitutionally permissible. And if I should be attacked for neglecting my constituents' 'interests,' I shall reply that I was informed that their main interest is liberty, and in that cause I am doing the very best I can."
I will be following real people like Pat Sullivan and Allen West. Real American patriots and Conservatives.

Thanks so much for your article on Patricia Sullivan. She's absolutely an up-and-comer in our Florida's 8th District, and deserves all the press she receives. She's a new breed of conservative! We're very happy to have her to run against the most vocal liberal Congressman on Capitol Hill!
Anyone interested in learning more about Patricia should check her web site - http://PatriciaSullivanForCongress.com - for video, a bio, and more.

|Do not make the mistake of dismissing this woman as "some unknown housewife from up in Lake County running for Congress." I suspect she could well be our next Congresswoman in the FL-8. When I first saw her I immediately turned to the person I was with and said this woman has the potential to be another Sarah Palin! That person happens to be another candidate for the Fl-8, who had just asked me to manage his campaign. (I turned him down.) I have managed a previous campaign in the Fl-8, know the district well, and most of the leading candidates, announced and unannounced. I am currently not involved with any candidate and have not personally even met Patricia, but that may well soon change. I can sense a winner here!

|It is refreshing to see an article on Patricia Sullivan. I will no longer look at the party of the candidate but their values. Patricia Sullivan is the type of person I want in Congress.
She is curiously being ignored by MSM.

|Very perceptive and long overdue article regarding Patricia Sullivan and other candidates who are running for office and who have no ulterior motives for doing so other than the desire to serve their fellow citizens and country. Thank you Dr. Swier. However, I think a more precise description of Patricia Sullivan is Conservative. So, keep an eye on her. Americans love a good underdog story and this is one in the making.

|Thanks for the article on Patricia Sullivan. She has a heart for restoring our Constitutional Republic! The 8th Congressional District and Central Florida in general have been embarrased by the antics of our current "non-representing representative". Look forward to Patricia representating the real people of our District as she goes to Washington to clean house. It is our hope that other Districts and States around the country stand behind Conservative, Constitutional candidates so that she will have like-minded patriots there to help her with the work. We know if will not be an easy job but someone has to do it and I believe Patricia has the character and back-bone to lead the way!

|Dr Swier, thank you for letting people know about Patricia Sullivan. She is the type of representative I want in Washington D.C. As others get to know her, I'm sure they will feel the same way. I don't understand why the media isn't more curious about who she is, what she wants to accomplish, and why.

|I met Patricia after she started up the North Lake County (FL) Tea Party and she started to bring their members to some demonstrations regarding the health care plan and a local grassroots effort to improve the law that established a 1 mill tax on North Lake property owners as a hospital tax.
At first, I thought she was a trained attorney because she very quickly studied documentation on the hospital tax and other local fiscal issues and clearly understood the issues and problems.
Then I found she was a Mom who provided in home schooling to her four children. It is clear she learned a lot while schooling them. I have worked in management in billion dollar firms and I say, do NOT underestimate Patricia - she is a breath of fresh air in politics.
I periodically post info on her campaign at my blog, www.FiscalRangers.com which focuses on improving fiscal management of local governments.

|Mrs Sullivan is the one that district 8 needs. I'm not in her district but close by and I'm supporting her because we all need more people in DC with her understanding of what we need up there. Obama said he was standing for change. I say I don't like your kind of change. And Mr Grayson is a disgrace to those of us in Florida. Whether your in her district or not we need her in DC, please go to www.patriciasullivanforcongress.com and support her. I truly believe that she will speak for us and do everything in her power to stop the distruction of our constitution, our government is killing us as a nation. Stand up and fight for your rights. Things CAN get done if we all stand together and speak out.

|As an REC member and as a small businessman and local talk radio show host I have had the occasion and a few times, the privilege to meet public officials and candidates for office who were fine people with what I perceived to be honest intentions of serving those who they desired to represent. But to this day I have never met anyone like Patricia who combined attributes such as perception, passion, purpose, patriotism and persuasiveness as well as she does. After 2 years of Disgrayson our district, Alan needs to be put out to pasture and he needs to be replaced not just with a good conservative Republican but with the best conservative Republican in the race-and that person in my view is none other than our future Congresswoman from the 8th District of Florida, Patricia Sullivan. Please support her with your prayers and your purses!

|I first read Atlas Shrugged in 1986 and reread it about every two years...lest we forget. I appreciate you putting Patricia Sullivan in the same catagotie as John Galt. I have had the pleasure of spending time with her and she is one of "We the people" and will represent us well. Thank you for highlighting her with other patriots and everyone should check out her website.

|I'm so happy to see this article on Patricia. I can say from all that I know about her, it is her sincerity and drive that stands out. Patricia really is driven to make a difference. A real difference and the right kind of difference that our country needs! Unlike other career politicians, she is a true representative of the people that make up this country. We need to stand behind her, as she in turn stands for us.
