Whitman's National Campaign Continues - As She Continues to Reveal Her Lack of Preparation.
By Sgt. York | 07/05/09 | 04:49 PM EDT | 4 Comments
Through George Will - Whitman says shrink the number of legislators and make initiatives impossible for grassroots groups to qualify.
Does that title sound absurd? Remember Whitman refusing to say what she'd cut from Government for about four months? Then Steve Poizner's Not Another Dime California Site comes out and Tom Campbell puts his site up causing Whitman to have a religious experience and she immediately starts spouting soundbytes.
Does that title sound absurd? Remember Whitman saying we can't stop welfare for illegals because there are children involved? (see also: Anchor Babies - illegals come across the border to have children knowing the child will be an automatic American citizen which gets the parents benefits and the child gets welfare)
Whitman Principle Number One - Campaign Nationally was on display again as the latest GOP establishment type - George Will wrote a column. Remember, the GOP establishment did such a great job handling power that we have a Socialist president and a filibuster-proof majority for the Dems in the Senate now. That same establishment is attempting to reincarnate Arnold in California...
Whitman and her team of Schwarzenegger staff have been tripping over their feet - George Will, in an attempt to lionize Meg Whitman sets her on fire again. Or maybe Meg did it and George Will's ignorance of California politics highlighted Meg's Ignorance of California Politics.
Enter Whitman Endorser and Supporter - State Senator Tony Strickland. Tony is the $10 Million Dollar Man - it took $10 Million to keep taxin' Jackson out of that Senate Seat. Do you think Tony was contacted before this latest policy "statement" from Whitman?
Whitman thinks it should be even more expensive to run for state office - why? She thinks we should have less members in the legislature - which would also make it easier for her fellow Liberals (SEIU, PETA, Sierra Club, CTA, etc etc etc) to control Sacramento.
In addition - her comments about "... the initiative process has outlived it's usefulness" were not a gaffe as she is now clarifying that statement by advocating making initiatives impossible for the grassroots and only possible for well-funded (eg Labor Unions) organizations to qualify them.
Look at what Will writes (in his blog on Townhall today):
She endorses a convention to revise California's Constitution, which was written in 1879 and has been amended 518 times. She would reduce the number of state Assembly districts (there are 80) because the Legislature is cumbersome, and would modify the initiative and referendum process. (Define cumbersome, the Dems control everything except the budget)
Voters have discombobulated budgeting by mandating spending without providing revenues, other than promiscuous borrowing. Whitman favors making it harder -- requiring more signatures -- to get measures on ballots, limiting the number on ballots in particular elections, and requiring the ballot language to specify the costs of measures being voted on.
I didn't make it up - George Will, in the process of trying to promote Whitman reveals that he spends too much time in D.C. He should write about D.C. politics and leave California alone.
It is clear - more signatures - making it more expensive and limiting the number of initiatives - making the early bird get the worm. Advantage Eco-Nazis, SEIU and CTA, they open their Warchests, get a bunch of initatives qualified and the rest of us are shut out because of a limit.
But, It doesn't stop there - cut the number of Assemblymembers to 40?
Tony Strickland? Wanna raise $20 million when you run for re-election? Why not run for U.S. Senate again if you're gonna need $20 mil... this is ridiculous.
Does Whitman really think the people of California would be thrilled at the prospect of shrinking the number of representatives so that it would be easier for the idiots that ran the state in the ground to avoid accountability?
In New Hampshire - they have a representative per 2,500 people. One of Charlie Brown's staffers was a NH Assemblyman who was recalled, even without a recall if a representative lies or votes for bad bills their constituents disagree with, they are done in two years.
Again, Whitman would have even more control to the eco-Nazis, SEIU and CTA. It is a wonder they haven't endorsed her!
Everytime Whitman makes a policy statement - her lack of prime-time experience becomes more apparent. Whitman Principle Number three - the sliding compass... with Arnold's team surrounding her, we can expect much more of these comments to come.
George Will forgot to read the memo - there's a primary that preceeds coronation.

Aaron, do you recognize these words? "Steve Poizner needs to take about ten years on the sidelines and do the following before running for office... 1.) Since he is a Billionaire, he needs to max out to every Republican running in California for statewide office. Tom McClintock and Chuck Poochigian are running un-opposed… you can write out the $5,600(?) checks now. Has he done so? Nope. 2.) Since he is a Billionaire, he needs to write big checks out to the CRP. I have heard rumors of that, but they are unconfirmed. Since people active in his campaign have come to this blog with their comments, perhaps you can shed some light on this!? Where are Steve's big checks to the CRP? Why did/does he oppose the war in Iraq? He needs to explain that... Opposing the war on Terror is not a Republican Value. We have a right to go and find the Homicide Bombers and kill them if they don't surrender... what about that don't you get Steve? Why did/does he oppose the Bush Tax Cuts? He needs to explain that, too... Tax cuts are foundational to the fiscal conservative philosophy. Even “moderate” Republicans support tax cuts... where does this leave you, Steve? Don't give me the “my wife made me do it” garbage... back at the beginning of time, Adam said that his Wife Eve made him eat from that fateful tree... Steven Poizner's name is on the $10,000 Check to the DNC and the $10,000 Check to the Gore/Lieberman Recount Committee... this means that Steve's Social Liberalism overtook his Republican Registration with regards to the attempt to deny Bush the white house. This is ridiculous and will take years to reconcile. Giving $10,000 to the DNC and the Gore Recount Committee is not a Republican Value. Some of the Poizner Moonbats have pointed out that opponent Dr. Phil Kurzner gave a then conservative Democrat Al Gore $250 in 1988... remember 1988! Kurzner re-registered Republican in 1989 or thereabouts... $250 vs. the boatloads that Steve Poizner has given to mess over Republicans is chicken feed!!! While Dr. Phil had had a Political Renaissance, re-registering Republican, Steve Poizner has always been suspect as a Republican. While Poizner can prance and say that he is a Republican all his life, you need to focus on what Poizner's actions have been. His charity in LA, Ed Voice, has its focus on reducing the line for Parcel Taxes to 55% so that they can enact parcel taxes to enact whatever social engineering they want. Ed Voice was defeated in at least one election that I am aware of. Raising Parcel Taxes is not a Republican Value. In this race about the conscience of the California GOP, is it money or principle? Poizner is “pro-choice” (Ok, so are some Republicans). Poizner is also pro-civil unions (vs. traditional marriage) for any two people. My role as a Republican activist in a Primary is to stop fraud. Poizner is not a Republican, even though he is registered as such. There is nothing personal against Steve Poizner except for the fact that his past actions indicate that he is a Democrat. I have not made a commentary on who he is as a person; rather this is a resuscitation of un-Republican principles and actions. As an Insurance Broker, I'd rather have the real thing than a facsimile. As in, I'd rather have Dr. Phil Lose to Jackie Speier, than have Steve Poizner win and take his Democrat values under a Republican label to the Insurance Commissioner's office. WHY? Why would I want a Republican to lose an election? Because our party stands for something and it is not for sale, no matter how many millions you can give. When you sell out to a fraud, you sell out everything you stand for. In the end, the GOP wins elections because we point out the moral bankruptcy of the Democrats. If we become Democrat-Lite, we guarantee ourselves of becoming as obscure as we are in Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts." This was only one of a constant barrage of vilification of Poizner by this author. And this same author back then lionized Tony Strickland at every opportunity. Aaron, this is you, true to form. How many pieces of silver did Poizner's people grease your palm?

|It depends on who is paying Aaron. I am sure he has forgotten those words now that he is on Poizner's payroll.

|George Bernard Shaw once found himself at a dinner party, seated beside an attractive woman. "Madam," he asked, "would you go to bed with me for a thousand pounds?" The woman blushed and rather indignantly shook her head. "For ten thousand pounds?" he asked. "No. I would not." "Then how about fifty thousand pounds?" he continued. The colossal sum gave the woman pause, and after further reflection, she coyly replied: "Perhaps." "And if I were to offer you five pounds?" Shaw asked. "Mr. Shaw!" the woman exclaimed. "What do you take me for!" "We have already established what you are," Shaw calmly replied. "Now we are merely haggling over the price." Now, Aaron, did you roll over for five pounds?

|Written in 2005 during the primary when the only thing we knew about Poizner were checks written on behalf of his wife and he had few other Republican credentials.
Since then - Steve has attended 10 straight CRA conventions, funded GOP voter registration and has been a leader on the state stage for Republican values.
He proved me wrong and a lot of the other naysayers - this is why he will likely get endorsed by a lot of GOP organizations - including the CRA.
As to the others and their cheap-shots... Lee, keep your powder dry for when I start kicking the crap out of your boy Jerry Brown.
Incidently, Whitman is to the left of wherever Poizner may have been... maybe you'll find her an acceptable candidate Lee?
