Representative Reichert responded to Boeing's recent jobs report and their announcement of pending layoffs. Reichert, who was recently appointed to the House Ways and Means Committee, had this to say:

"Today's grim news confirms what we already know - that the economic troubles we face reach all corners of America, touching individuals, families and businesses alike. Boeing's announcement highlights just how the pains of the economic downturn are hitting home in Washington State. As one of the premiere employers in our state, Boeing serves as an engine to our economy and our delegation must do what we can to support them during this difficult time.
 
"Our government's response to the economic downturn must be swift, comprehensive, and targeted to deliver assistance where it can be most effective. This is a time for meaningful solutions and I remain committed to working in a bipartisan manner to enact legislation that creates jobs, aids struggling workers, families, and companies, and restores confidence in our economy."
