King County voters who cast a ballot for a new election director will do so via the U.S. Postal Service. King County will hold it's first ever all mail in election on February 3rd. The change to the mail in system is designed to increase voter turnout and to cut down on costs by eliminating the need to hire poll workers.
Ballots will be mailed to voters from January 14th to the 16th. King County would like to conduct all future voting by mail as well. The federal government must certify a high-capacity vote counting system before the all-mail system can be used in primary and general elections.
King County will have vote tracking equipment in place so voters can be sure that their ballots were counted.
