Pelosi/Burner: Birds of a Feather

Posted by: Michael S. Kerr | 08/14/2008 8:03 PM

Nancy Pelosi has thrown her full support, and a liberal helping of empty rhetoric, behind Darcy Burner. The Speaker seems quite willing to sacrifice true leadership, knowledge and experience in order to add another misguided lefty to the ranks.

This race is truly a choice between polar opposites. The incumbent is an infinitely qualified, proven leader who has served the 8th District and our country well. His opponent, well.....not so much.....of anything......at all.....zero.....zilch....nadda.

I know, I probably sound more like a campaign spokesman than a typical blogger on this one, but for anyone remotely familiar with these two candidates, and their respective resumes, it's such an obvious choice.

Darcy Burner is fond of referencing the "Responsible Plan" which she is using, in-lew of any actual experience, as some sort of record of accomplishment. She's also using it as a means of generating campaign contributions. Here's an interesting fact regarding the specific legislative proposals listed in the Plan; Congressman Reichert cosponsored 54% of them.

Darcy's resume might qualify her as a candidate for freshman class president, but she will need real world experience and a proven record of leadership before she can be taken seriously as a candidate for the U.S. Congress.

Michael;

As you know, I prefer Blue Dog Democrat Jim Vaughn to RINO Dave Reichert. However, now that my public service announcement is out of the way, Darcy Burner could not be any less qualified to be a Representative if she were a bagel.

The woman tries to use her brother's military record to give herself legitimacy with the Armed Forces, even though he's on record saying that she hates his decision to serve (I believe he was Air Force?) and they rarely speak.

She's told veterans and the parents of servicemembers killed in Afghanistan to sit down and shut up during her campaign talks. I mean, come on, we have brothers, sons, and fathers, along with some mothers, sisters, and daughters from Fort Lewis and Madigan AFB serving overseas right now, and this shrew orders their family members to plant it? She doesn't want to hear what they have to say about military service?

Probably not. Most of us in the military have positive things to say about it. Like me: I volunteered three times for Iraq but was never chosen, and the military paid for three advanced degrees and will have paid for a fourth when I'm done.

The last thing Darcy needs anyone to point out is that almost all members of the Armed Forces are proud to serve our country and ask nothing more than to be appreciated when we come home. Since such appreciate is evidently beyond her (as demonstrated by her actions towards her own brother) she has NO business running for office.

What really gets me is that her ONLY track record is one of consistently TRIPPING AT THE FINISH LINE.

She left Microsoft as a project manager about six months before her primary project (.NET) was rolled out. No project manager leaves a project on six-horizon willingly. I'll bet if someone called Redmond they would say that she was asked to depart.

Then she goes to law school. I'm all for that. Better yourself-- except that I think it goes without saying that if you actually COMPLETE law school you'll be a vastly better legislator than if you drop out after a year and a half to run for office.

I don't support Dave Reichert primarily because of his stance on drilling ANWR, which I find frightfully naive (I do, however, agree with his long-term plan.). That being said, a cold cup of cat urine would make a better Representative of Washington State than Darcy Burner. ESPECIALLY in the 8th District, which ranges from the commercial centers of Auburn, to the industry of Sumner, to the agriculture and real estate development of Orting. (I wonder if Darcy even knows where Orting is? Could she find South Prairie if you spun her around in a circle and gave her a map and a pin?)

And if she's going to openly disrespect our Armed Forces then I not only don't want her as a Representative, I'm all in favor of her deportation.

As a bagel fan, I resent the comparison!

Sorry Carly. Look at it this way: If Darcy were a bagel, she'd actually have some use.
