Obama Not Ready for Prime Time

Posted by: Angie Vogt | 08/20/2008 2:19 PM

In a conference call with McCain senior foreign policy advisers this morning, the subject was Senator Barack Obama's poor judgment in dealing with state sponsors of terror.

Red County joined the press briefing where McCain's senior staff pointed out at least one glaring example of how dangerous and ill prepared Obama is to lead our country into a contentious world of dictators who openly support and associate with enemies of democracy and the free world.

According to a New York Sun article, one of Obama's advisors, Daniel Kurtzer met with Syria's Foreign Minister, Walid al-Moallem, last month and offered advice on how the Syrian government could better negotiate with an American administration, regardless of who the President is.

Senior McCain advisers, including Rudy Giuliani, speculated in the conference this morning that such an action is further indication of Obama's stated intentions that he would meet and negotiate with foreign sponsors of terror, "with no preconditions," making the American President an easy target for manipulation and ridicule. Obama has since tried to back away from this assertion.

NBC reporter Kelley O'Donnell tried to steer the conference away from the subject matter by asking about McCain's VP choice, to which McCain Communications Director Michael Goldfarb commented, "Speculating all day on who Senator McCain chooses as his running mate is not the point of this conference call," and quickly moved back to the subject at hand.

According to the New York Sun article that the McCain camp was responding to, Obama's adviser made the revealing comment, "None of us thought we were being used or abused, but we will see over time." Yikes.

Given that, according to one foreign policy expert, Tony Badran, of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, the Syrians are "banking on an Obama presidency," we can only hope that Obama's advisers were not being used and abused.

Better yet, why don't we just make sure McCain wins so we don't have to wait and see.
