Amid all the doom and gloom and "the sky is falling" news reports we are being bombarded with these days, a little perspective can go a long way. It seems that many are looking to the government to remedy all that ails us. It's time for some optimism, and who better to provide a little sunshine than the Great Communicator.

Today, Red County Washington introduces a new feature called "Reagan's Wisdom." Each day, we will be posting quips and quotes from our 40th President. The man who brought a smile to so many faces, and the Evil Empire to its knees, is here to remind us of that "Shining City Upon a Hill." Lest anyone forget, it's we the people, not government, who make this country great.

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
