During the 2006 city council election Councilman Frank Ury raised this issue yet waited until now, just before he files for re-election, to put it on an Agenda. Therefore his concerns for Mission Viejo taxpayer dollars appears to have been dormant until he prepares to throw his hat in the ring. Nice re-election campaign issue.

As of now former council members Bill Craycraft, Susan Withrow and current member John Paul Ledesma are the only members of the Mission Viejo city council to participate in this benefit. As this was approved by a prior city council, the only currently sitting member to cast a vote on this issue is John Paul Ledesma. Perhaps Frank Ury can explain the delay which I recall dates back to our effort to elect a non incumbent in the 2006 race. He was very vocal on this health care benefit from the summer of 2006 through Nov 2006. Do the math. Even after that election how many city council meetings were held between Nov 2006 and May 19th 2008?

Bottom line. I do agree that this health care benefit for members serving part time should never have been approved by that former council, most of whom we removed from office at the ballot box.

I think your budget numbers should have been in millions, not thousands and your budget increase was $11 billion, not $11 million. Otherwise we are only spending $10-12 per student. If true, that would the most efficent use of money this state has ever seen.

So, with enrollment declining (every single year) by over 60,000 students during that period, and the education budget increasing (every single year) by a total of $11 million, I fail to see where we have an "ever-decreasing budget for our schools."

Developing a good work ethic isn't a left of right issue either. It's okay to not like your job, but it's not fair to employers (or coworkers for that matter) to "quit and stay." Hard-working, patiotic Americans can wrap their heads around that.

Well, this has sealed the deal. McClintock will lose the election or bail out just like the last candidate that Gilchrist endorsed. Why? Because Jim Gilchrist, who named the second Minute Man Project after himself because the real Minute Man Project fired him and Stephen Eichler from the organization for apparent accounting discrepancies, is alleged to have committed fraud. He was just sued AGAIN earlier this week for Fraud and numerous other causes of action. Couple the issue with all the surrounding buzz around Gilchrist suing Americans with donor money that was received and you have a recipe for the "kiss of death" endorsement. Gilchrist keeps trying to ride the coattails of candidates and it quickly leads to political disaster for the candidates. RUN McClintock RUN! Don't associate yourself with FRAUD and TAX EVASION. Stephen Eichler's associate William S. Reed just got shut down for some of this. Check the Gilchrist and Eichler Bankruptcies. AGAIN... RUN McClintock RUN!

As someone with a libertarian point of view on this issue I believe that Republicans are going to be on the losing side of this issue if they push too hard. I don't see the outrage among Californians that even I expected by now. The fact that six out of the seven were Republican appointees makes the Republican argument pretty weak. I believe most Democrats and a sizable minority of Republicans are going to vote no on this issue in November.

I have nothing to do, its Friday. I can't go home. So I compain about stuff on blogs on company time. When I finally get to clock out after spending a few hours goofing off. When I'd rather leave now and work more productivly next week, insted of sitting in traffic. "Flexi-time" for white collar workers, is an important issue to us Californians.
