BIOGRAPHY

A resident of Pullman, WA since 1987 – Jeff Williams is a husband of 15 years, father of two and small business owner who has been active in the conservative blogosphere for several years, and has been going through a personal political renaissance since 2004. Originally a die-hard Reagan Republican, Williams gave up his (R) affiliation some time ago, as the GOP abandoned conservative principles and seemed as intent on increasing spending and growing big government as was the democrat party. Williams has since adopted what he calls a “common sense conservative” philosophy and has spent a great deal of time reading the founding documents and the Constitution. Williams is an active organizer of the local “9.12” Project in Whitman County, WA and Latah County, ID, and proudly views writing for Red County as yet another red flag likely to have him put on a USDHS watch list. Williams is very much a complete political neophyte and prefers to remain that way – at least for the time being.

Continental Congress Convenes

By Jeff Williams | 11/18/09

When a national election is held and a subsequent “congress” is called, it’s fairly remarkable how hard nearly 150 men and women will work to craft and pass a set of “recommendations” to the State and Federal Government. Continental Congress ’09, an event conceived and executed by noted Constitutional activist Bob Shulz and his “We The People Foundation,” convened one week ago today (November 11)... read more »

Good Old-Fashioned Small Town Mudslinging...

By Jeff Williams | 10/23/09

Whoever said local politics were centered around local issues and the good-natured exchange and debate of ideas apparently never campaigned in Pullman against Bill Paul. In the final weeks of the current election cycle, the dynamic of this contest has apparently been flipped upside-down, with the Paul campaign embracing the most radical elements of what has historically been his opposition on Pullman City Council, and is encouraging vicious,... read more »

March on Washington was a "Teachable Moment"

By Jeff Williams | 09/20/09

After the Bernard Gates / Cambridge incident, President Obama deflected criticism of his unwarranted intervention by referring to the situation as “a teachable moment.” What? Teachable? I don’t think he was referring to himself and the intrusion by the office of the President into a local matter he had no business commenting on. So, the one thing that I can personally take away from this incident is that what President Obama... read more »

Back From the 9-12 March on Washington

By Jeff Williams | 09/14/09

I've been monitoring the media regarding the 9-12 March on Washington, and while I have barely had a chance to unpack and get caught up with life's responsibilities, I can tell you this... the MSM has this one 100% wrong. In fact, this could very well be their curtain call. I don't know how many people attended this rally, I'm not in the business of counting or estimating crowd size, AND it's something near impossible to do as a... read more »

Stormwater Ordinance Still Needs Work

By Jeff Williams | 07/31/09

“You can’t put lipstick on a pig.” That’s a saying that has been around far longer than I have, and I love its’ brevity and accuracy. There’s another saying I love… “You got a warrant?” The proverbial pig, in this instance, is the federal and state-mandated laws requiring an ordinance covering illegal discharge of hazardous materials into the city's stormwater sewer system. This mandate,... read more »

A Common Sense Approach to Wal-Mart

By Jeff Williams | 07/10/09

For more than four years, the Pullman Alliance for Responsible Development (PARD) has waged all-out war in attempting to stop the development of a Wal-Mart Supercenter in Pullman. Like many residents, I have followed this debacle with some interest and with some disgust, but have largely limited my discussions on the process to friends, family and acquaintances. However, as I am now a candidate for Pullman City Council, I believe it's time to... read more »

Editorial Unfairly Represents Tea Parties - With Response

By Jeff Williams | 07/03/09

William Brock opined in the pages of the Moscow / Pullman Daily News... Independence Day is fast approaching, so if you're not robotically igniting fireworks, this might be a good time to reflect on life in these United States. According to some participants of Saturday's Taxed Enough Already (TEA) rally in Pullman, Americans are losing their grasp on liberty, the Constitution and our system of free enterprise. "People need to know... read more »

Pullman City Council Eyes Utility Rate Increases

By Jeff Williams | 07/02/09

On Tuesday, June 30, the Pullman City Council announced it was considering utility rate increases; water rates could increase by as much as 8 percent annually, while sewer rates could increase by as much as 12.5 percent annually. This fee structure is roughly double the existing planned increases. According to the Moscow Pullman Daily News, in an article published 7/1/09, the increased fees are needed “to pay for [multiple] infrastructure... read more »

Pullman/Moscow Tea Party - Downloadable Speech Audio

By Jeff Williams | 06/29/09

Pullman, WA - on Saturday afternoon, more than 120 people gathered from across the region for the second Tea Party sponsored by the Palouse 9.12 project. I was honored to be given the opportunity to speak at this event, and I would like to bring you the audio of the speech. Video is forthcoming, but as with all things You Tube, saving to the appropriate file size, uploading and encoding all takes a significant about of time. So, while you wait... read more »

Minnick to vote "NO" On Cap & Trade Legislation

By Jeff Williams | 06/26/09

Walt Minnick, a Democrat I could and would vote for. While we would no doubt disagree on certain issues, the guy is a constitutionalist, he listens to his constituency, and bucks the party line on a regular basis. Hell, he's more conservative than some conservatives! All I can say is Thank God for the Walt Minnicks of the world. If cap and trade is to be defeated, it will be individuals like him who stop this legislation in its' tracks. From... read more »
