For Liberal Jews, Obama Is the Messiah

By Ted Belman | 07/12/09

By Abraham H. Miller , Pyjamas Media The difference between radical Muslims and liberal American Jews is that the former seek to become martyrs, while the latter aspire to become victims. In an ironic twist of fate, radical Muslims and liberal American Jews were made for each other. This ideological symbiosis is sufficient to give pause to the presence of intelligent design. But like all things that seem to emanate from a higher power,... read more »

The Great Abba Eban

By Ted Belman | 07/11/09

I can't recommend enough, this 1958 one hour interview of Abba Eban by Mike Wallace. Once you get by the cigarette commercial, which is a real blast from yesteryear, you will see in the interview, an antisemitic interviewer intent on repeating on national television, in the most watched show in the US, every charge against Israel that the most scurrilous people make, and the brilliant responses from the incomparable Abba Eban, Israel's... read more »

The tools of persuasion

By Ted Belman | 07/08/09

The headlines are coming fast and furious. Did U.S. okay Israel construction of 2,500 settlement homes? Israel had won agreement from the United States for the continued construction of 2,500 housing units in settlements in the West Bank, despite U.S. calls for a freeze, according to the Israeli newspaper Ma’ariv. ‘We’ll evacuate 23 outposts very soon’ Defense Minister Ehud Barak met Middle East envoy... read more »

Why fight an 800 pound gorilla when…

By Ted Belman | 07/07/09

On June 28 the Foreign Ministry of Israel posted its five principles about which PM Netanyahu said “I saw that there was a genuine international willingness to accept them as foundations for peace.” - The first principle is the need for explicit Palestinian recognition of the State of Israel as the national state of the Jewish people. - The second need is the demilitarization of a Palestinian state in such a manner that all... read more »

Just say “No” to the settlement freeze

By Ted Belman | 07/02/09

The Arabs know what they want, and that is the end of Israel. The Jews are divided as to what they want. The left wants to get the hell out of the West Bank. The center, including Kadima and Labour, want to keep the settlement blocks containing most of the settlers but are prepared to uproot as many as 70,000 Jews, perhaps even 100,000. The right does not want to allow a Palestinian state to emerge, even if demilitarized. All are united in... read more »

The Jewish Response to Obama

By Ted Belman | 06/20/09

First, the Obama administration used strong rhetoric demanding the end of all settlement activity. Then, President Obama in his Cairo speech made clear whom he favoured both by repeating the Arab narrative and mangling the Jewish narrative. Prime Minister Netanyahu responded by setting the record straight, identifying Jewish rights to Judea and Samaria and putting blame on the Arabs for the conflict. Netanyahu emphasized that the... read more »

Memo to Bibi. What your speech should entail

By Ted Belman | 06/13/09

Memo to Bibi. What your speech should entail. The League of Nations granted to Jews everywhere the right to settle in Judea and Samaria. The Palestine Mandate recognized our right to reconstitute our ancient homeland there. The United Nations is bound by this document. While that is our right as Jews, we are prepared to relinquish our rights to some of the land pursuant to the Roadmap, providing it is based on Res 242 which authorized us... read more »

What settlement freeze commitment?

By Ted Belman | 05/30/09

Everyone assumes that Israel is committed to freezing settlement activity without preconditions. Not so. Here’s why. The Roadmap demanded that Israel “immediately dismantle settlement outposts erected since March 2001″ and provided that “Consistent with the Mitchell Report, GOI freeze all settlement activity (including natural growth of settlements)”. The Mitchell Report was prepared in response to the terror... read more »

Obama, Netanyahu and American Jews

By Ted Belman | 05/13/09

By Isi Leibler from Israpundit: It was with mixed feelings that I returned from New York after extensive discussions with a wide range of American Jewish leaders. The outcome of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s forthcoming meeting with President Barack Obama will indicate the probable direction of the relationship with our most crucial ally and arms supplier. Optimists predict that a conflict is unlikely to materialize now. They argue... read more »

Justice For All

By Ted Belman | 05/03/09

The Arabs cry out for justice. The Jews cry out for security. The Arabs demand their rights, even non-existent rights like the “right of return”. The Jews have forgotten they have any rights. As a result, the world considers the Palestinians as oppressed and the Israelis as the oppressors. Recently, Tony Blair delivered a speech in Chicago on Global Affairs in which he said, “The ideology (radical Islam) we are fighting... read more »
