Senate Minority Leader Paul McKinley Takes on Governor Culver

By Albert Bregar | 06/19/09

McKinley’s Memos Senate Republican Leader Paul McKinley   A few weeks ago, Governor Chet Culver signed a $6.3 billion dollar state budget, the largest budget in the 163 year history of the state. Days earlier, he added his signature of approval to $1.7 billion dollars worth of borrowing and spending bills that will literally leave future generations of Iowans to foot the bill for this decades of debt. This year’s high... read more »

Principle Over Party

By Albert Bregar | 06/18/09

We have been saying for some time that the people advocating for Republicans to compromise on our principles would only serve to drive the most loyal base from the party. A perfect example of this would the case of former Pocahontas County Republican Party co-Chair Tom Shaw. Mr. Shaw is appalled by the direction that some individuals seem to want to take the party in. As a result Mr. Shaw has withdrawn from the party and is now running for... read more »

The Crisis of Failed Leadership

By Albert Bregar | 06/14/09

Iowa is in a state of crisis. This is a crisis that was not generated by natural disaster or calamity. The crisis that we continue to suffer through was and is completely manmade. This crisis is by no means environmental in nature. We are not at the mercy of some sick and twisted serial killer. The crisis we find our state in is one of a political nature, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. Right now the State of Iowa is afflicted by... read more »

A Frontrunner Emerges

By Albert Bregar | 06/11/09

Last evening several members of The Iowa Brigade/Iowa Defense Alliance were in attendance at Bob Vander Plaats event at Arnolds Park on the shores of Lake Okoboji. We had volunteered to help set the event up and sign people in as they came through the doors. It would be redundant for me to provide a recount of the event as I live blogged the event last night right here on Iowa Defense Alliance. Instead I will focus on some of the side stories... read more »

Who's Lying; Boswell or Pelosi?

By Albert Bregar | 06/09/09

It has long been apparent that Leonard Boswell, the US Representative for Iowa’s 3rd Congressional District, is the political equivalent of a wind sock. Through observance of his actions, comments, and voting record it is inherently apparent that Boswell is a man without a firm set of convictions to guide him through life. This was the reason that fellow Democrat Ed Fallon decided to engage Boswell in a primary last year. For many... read more »

The California Clown Comes to Iowa

By Albert Bregar | 06/07/09

As I mentioned in a post yesterday, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was due to be in Iowa today for a series of events in the Des Moines area. The California Democrat has been under fire recently for alleging that the Bush administration had misled her about interrogation techniques. The problem is that it wasn’t the Bush administration that was briefing her, it was the CIA and they say she was fully informed of the methods the... read more »

Pelosi's Psycho Circus Returns to Iowa

By Albert Bregar | 06/06/09

This afternoon the Nancy Pelosi is slated to headline a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee fundraiser hosted by Iowa’s Democratic members of the United States House of Representatives (Leonard Boswell, Bruce Braley, and Dave Loebsack) in Des Moines. It is expected that among the many issues that will be discussed is her support of The American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009, more commonly known as the Waxman-Markey Climate... read more »

Sonia Sotomayor: Unacceptable

By Albert Bregar | 05/30/09

As many of you are no doubt aware, President Obama has made his choice for the Supreme Court seat being vacated by Justice Souter. In July of 2007 at a Planned Parenthood gathering Obama indicated that when he was elected his Supreme Court nominees would be chosen by qualifications other than adherence to the Constitution of the United States. He claimed that he wanted Justices that were empathetic to the... read more »

The New Divide

By Albert Bregar | 05/28/09

I am still a relative newcomer to the realm of politics. Prior to the most recent Iowa Caucus I was not all that involved. Sure I voted in the general election, but until last year I had never taken part in a primary. Last year however there was a presidential candidate that inspired me to do more to make our state and our country a better place. Because of my relative entry into politics I cannot really say what condition the Republican... read more »
