A Few Post Election Thoughts
By Albert Bregar | 11/06/08
For those that don't know me personally let me admit that I have only recently become politically active. This year I participated in my first caucus, first state primary, and my first state convention. It has been an eye opening experience born out of a desire to make my voice heard. It is through this activism that I began blogging in January right after the caucus. And this was the first time that I have seen the election process from the... read more »

Medvedev Orders Missiles to Polish Border
By Albert Bregar | 11/05/08
While President-elect Barack Obama and his supporters celebrate his historic victory the world refused to wait. It appears that Obama will not be able to celebrate for very long before he is going to have to face the escalating tensions around the world. Take for instance Russian President Dmitri Medvedev, he has ordered missiles to be based on their border with Poland. Medvedev has made the claim that these missiles are in response to the... read more »

By Albert Bregar | 11/03/08
The people of Iowa have an opportunity to vote on a proposed amendment to the Constitution of the State of Iowa. The proposed change in the constitution would change the wording of Section 5 of Article II of the constitution. The current wording of the constitution reads that "No idiot, or insane person, or person convicted of any infamous crime, shall be entitled to the privilege of an elector." If it passes the new wording for this section... read more »

Christopher Reed is Ready to Lead
By Albert Bregar | 11/01/08
For 24 years Iowa has been represented by Tom Harkin in the US Senate. I will be the first to say that Senator Harkin has done some good in his political career. But that was for the most part early in his political career. As his career has progressed he has grown out of touch with the people of Iowa. He no longer identifies with us, instead he now more closely identifies with the power brokers and far leftist Democrats from around the country.... read more »

Mr. Obama: Leave My Toys Alone
By Albert Bregar | 10/31/08
Barack Obama has launched a new attack on his foes and opponents this week. In Sarasota, FL Obama made the remark that his opponents have made a virtue of selfishness. This is in response to the opposition of Obama's coming tax increase if elected. This was not the only comments made at that rally which drew my attention.Shortly after Obama makes that comment he states that he next expected that his opponents would attempt to tie his sharing of... read more »

Des Moines Register Endorse Ultra Liberal Tom Harkin
By Albert Bregar | 10/27/08
In a move that is not at all surprising the Des Moines Register today endorsed US Senator Tom Harkin for a fifth term. It was only fitting that the left leaning Register endorsed one of the most liberal politicians to come out of Iowa. Let us explore the so-called reasons behind their decision. The foremost reason that the Register endorsed Senator Harkin was because he is ranks within the top fifth of Senators in terms of seniority. I guess they... read more »

The Hypocrisy is Astounding
By Albert Bregar | 10/26/08
I am not writing this to debate whether 2nd Congressional District Marianette Miller-Meeks is pro-life or pro-abortion. Instead I am writing this as an indictment of the party leadership and their faux outrage over the Iowa Right to Life incident involving Marianette Miller-Meeks. As most people know the Iowa Right to Life released their pre-election newsletter. In it IRTL characterized Miller-Meeks as "The Great Pretender."The leaders of... read more »

How Do Obama Supporters Think?
By Albert Bregar | 10/25/08
I had a unique experience after today's Palin rally in Des Moines. I saw a lone Obama supporter attempting to debate a couple of McCain supporters. Let's just say it wasn't pretty. The two McCain supporters were much quicker and much more informed about the issues than the Obama supporter was. I actually felt a tiny bit of pity for the poor girl. She was getting trounced and she knew it. You could see it in her eyes that she knew that she... read more »

By Albert Bregar | 10/24/08
What happens when two US Senate candidates who also both happen to be veterans of the US Navy? You know at least one of them is going to get a broadside in that would do the Battleship Iowa proud. Last night The Des Moines Register in conjunction with Iowa Public Television hosted what they are calling a conversation with the candidates for one of Iowa's US Senate seat. The candidates in question are incumbent Democrat Tom Harkin and Republican... read more »
