Culver/Branstad-What's The Difference
By Albert Bregar | 11/01/09
According to this article at the Quad City Times, former Governor Branstad took part in a fundraiser for Representative Jeff Kauffman on a farm outside of Wilton, IA. As I was reading the article I was amazed at some of the criticisms that Branstad leveled at Governor Culver. All this criticism got me to thinking, really what is the difference between Branstad and Culver, shall we find out. One of the chief accusations that Branstad has aimed... read more »

Moderate In Disguise
By Albert Bregar | 11/01/09
As a Conservative Republican I find little that disturbs me more than a Moderate masquerading as a Conservative. By disguising their true political views these Moderates are lying to the electorate. This deception is a violation of the trust that people place in their elected officials. Moderates that hide their true worldview lack an ingredient necessary for them to succeed in politics, integrity. Last year during the 2nd Congressional... read more »

The Other Primary
By Albert Bregar | 10/26/09
With the battle for the Republican nomination for governor well underway other races around the state seem to be getting less press time. With the public opinion at the moment heavily anti-incumbent these races should be and are just as important as the battle to challenge Governor Culver. But because of the high profile nature of the gubernatorial race these races tend to be overshadowed. One such race is the battle for the Republican... read more »

Boswell's Town Hall Becomes a Campaign Rally
By Albert Bregar | 08/25/09
This morning the Des Moines Register demonstrated extremely poor judgment when it published an article about the Town Hall hosted by 3rd District Congressman Leonard Boswell this past Sunday. I have to question whether the reporter credited with authoring the article was even in attendance or if he allowed a member of Boswell’s staff to pen the article. But alas; near the end of the article the proof that it was indeed not one of... read more »

Congressman Boswell's Staged Town Hall
By Albert Bregar | 08/16/09
Thursday 3rd District Congressman Leonard Boswell held what was supposed to have been his first Town Hall Meeting on the much disputed Health Care Reform Bills bouncing around the halls of Congress. The meeting was held in the public library of the small rural community of Sigourney located in Keokuk County about 30 miles east of Oskaloosa. This city is situated near the extreme edge of the Congressman’s District causing some to... read more »

Leonard Boswell-3rd Districts Un-Representative
By Albert Bregar | 08/08/09
The residents of the 3rd Congressional District are angry. They feel that they are not being represented. They are frustrated because their Congressman has failed to heed their advice. They are confused as to how their elected representative could so willingly turn his back on their will. And most of all they are disgusted by sheer magnitude of arrogance displayed by their representative. The Congressman I am talking about is Leonard... read more »

Shaw Issues a Challenge
By Albert Bregar | 07/21/09
I most strongly propose an amendment to Iowa’s Constitution which would provide an absolute guarantee of the individual right for Iowans to “Keep and Bear Arms.” I believe that the following language, adopted from Idaho’s state constitution, would ensure against state infringement on this most important right: “The people have the right to keep and bear arms, which right shall not be... read more »

Bob Vander Plaats on Gov. Culver: "Hope and Wait" Policies
By Albert Bregar | 07/20/09
The primary that will decide the Republican nominee to challenge Governor Chet Culver is still eleven months away. That didn’t stop The Iowa Republican from commissioning a poll to determine who the frontrunner is at this early date. As I had predicted last month Bob Vander Plaats is the clear frontrunner in the race for the Republican Gubernatorial nomination. In fact Vander Plaats is clearly dominating the rest of the field by... read more »

The Continuing Saga of Sonia Sotomayor
By Albert Bregar | 07/15/09
Finally after what has seemed like ages I am finally able to get back online to opine about the comings and goings of the political world. I won’t bore you with the trials and tribulations of the last two weeks of my cyber absence and instead dive right into the meat of why you come here. Today I will opine on the battle in the U.S. Senate regarding the confirmation hearing of President Obama’s pick to replace Justice David Souter on... read more »

Celebrating Independence Day
By Albert Bregar | 07/04/09
Independence Day On this day we pause to celebrate our nation’s independence from tyranny and oppression. Some 233 years ago a brave and courageous people stood up and declared they were taking back their God given rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. These men not only forged the greatest nation man has ever seen, but too, they believed We the People was the best course shape their world, and it still... read more »
