BIOGRAPHY
I am a born and raised farm kid who is a strong values voter. The 2008 presidential primary season was the first time I ever supported a candidate in every way. By doing this, I got to see that these social conservative values that I stand for are slowly being eroded away by Republicans who are more concerned with the party than their own principles. I will no longer just check the Republican box during an election. The legislature in Iowa needs to go back to the traditional values that once made this a great state. Second to none schools, strong families, respect for all human life, and a society where God is not pushed or prohibited, but instead always apparent. This is why I am here.COMMENTARIES
Democrats Decide that Protecting Women's Health is Not Important
By Iowans Rock | 03/05/09
It is very disturbing to me to be living in a so-called culture of life but yet a bill that would save lives is not even being allowed out of subcommittee in the Iowa House. What's worse is that Democrats are all for protecting women's health and her rights by offering her "reproductive choice" but yet they believe that a bill which would require information to be given about abortion complications to the woman herself is "not... read more »

Obama is a Pro-Choice Coward
By Iowans Rock | 02/27/09
I have head President Obama being labeled by different terms over the course of his presidential run, but I am going to call him something new; a coward. In the racket of announcing his budget he quietly started the process of overturning the conscience rule that protects pro-life medical providers from having to perform or refer abortions. Quietly, with no "fanfare." In the last part of his presidency Bush strengthened the... read more »

Huckabee on Obama's "Change"
By Iowans Rock | 02/23/09
Mike Huckabee was one of the first Republicans who was willing to give Barack Obama a chance. He campaigned vigorously for John McCain, but after the votes came in he pledged his respect to Obama and called him "my President." Huckabee also pointed out that he would adamantly oppose Obama if he did things that he disagreed with. It looks like that day has come. Things have changed a lot since Inauguration Day and... read more »

Will the Republicans Please Stand-Up
By Iowans Rock | 02/18/09
There is an old saying about people who are power hungry or just plain out for themselves: "If you give them an inch, they will take a mile." This reminds me of the Democrats at the Iowa Statehouse and why all Republicans should stand against them. Normally I am not for such a partisan attitude, but when it comes to issues such as the ones being discussed right now party lines must be drawn if the GOP is going to survive, and... read more »

Thank you to Iowa Legislators Hamerlinck, Sorenson, and Hagenow
By Iowans Rock | 02/17/09
Kudos to Shawn Hamerlinck Shawn Hamerlinck is the newly elected Iowa senator for district 42 and was an Iowa Brigade focus candidate. During the senate debate on the $56 million disaster relief bill, Hamerlinck offered the majority of the amendments aimed at cutting government and providing more transparency and accountability to the Rebuild Iowa Office and flood relief process. S-3011 by Hamerlinck (R) failed by a record... read more »

Huckabee Labels the Stimulus for What it is: C.R.A.P.
By Iowans Rock | 02/16/09
On his FOX News show two weeks ago, Mike Huckabee hit Congress hard by comparing the stimulus package to garbage. On his show this past weekend he takes the subject a bit farther. He pointed out that the bill does not have a name yet, so he proposed one; the Congressional Relief Action Program. Also, Huckabee wants input on what viewers are going to do with their added $13 a week they will be receiving from... read more »

Consolidation: cheaper, but is it better?
By Iowans Rock | 02/11/09
The Des Moines Register had an article yesterday about Iowa Senator Matt McCoy's push for school consolidation in districts with less than 750 students. This is yet another lazy attempt from the Democrats at the Iowa statehouse to fix a problem by making across the board decisions. Do they even know which school districts are in this demographic? Are some of those schools over-performing? Are some of those schools not in... read more »

What Is the Crime?
By Iowans Rock | 02/06/09
The incident I have shared below is receiving uproar from both sides of the abortion debate, however, there is something I don't understand. At what point in time in the five feet between the woman's body and the garbage can did this become an outrageous tragedy? When in the small fraction of time between the baby moving around in the mother's womb to the placement in the trash did the crime occur? If you are a defender of... read more »

Social Issues: GOP's Strength
By Iowans Rock | 02/03/09
Sioux City is the first city council in the nation to defend traditional marriage and put pressure on the state legislature to allow a constitutional amendment to be voted on. Voting 3-2, the council Monday adopted a resolution supporting the legal definition of marriage as between one man and one woman, opposing efforts to redefine the institution as anything else and urging the Legislature to place a constitutional amendment on the... read more »

Senate's Turn to Deal with the Pork
By Iowans Rock | 02/02/09
This is the week the stimulus bill heads to the United States Senate. While the goal of this bill is to stimulate the economy in hopes of creating more jobs and helping out hardworking middle America, it is engorged with massive spending on provisions that have nothing to do with helping the economy. Provisions of the bill that many legislators are questioning: $1 billion for Amtrak, which hasn't earned a profit in four decades. $2... read more »
