BIOGRAPHY

I am a born and raised farm kid who is a strong values voter. The 2008 presidential primary season was the first time I ever supported a candidate in every way. By doing this, I got to see that these social conservative values that I stand for are slowly being eroded away by Republicans who are more concerned with the party than their own principles. I will no longer just check the Republican box during an election. The legislature in Iowa needs to go back to the traditional values that once made this a great state. Second to none schools, strong families, respect for all human life, and a society where God is not pushed or prohibited, but instead always apparent. This is why I am here.

California, New Hampshire, and the Gay Marriage Express

By Iowans Rock | 05/27/09

As I have stated in previous posts, the only way to legalize same-sex marriage is through the people or the legislature.  States who use the court's opinion to magically make law know darn well that it is the only way they will get same-sex marriage because their people nor their legislatures will pass it.  Two states have recently failed, both legally and illegally, to get same-sex marriage a law. Gay marriage advocates were hoping... read more »

Wisconsin: Next Stop for the Court's Tyranny

By Iowans Rock | 05/20/09

Well it looks like our neighbor to the east, Wisconsin, is the next target on Tim Gill's hit list.  Their state Supreme Court will review whether or not the marriage amendment to the state constitution that was passed by almost 60% of the people eighteen months ago is constitutional.  An amendment to the consitution must be single issue and critics are saying the marriage amendment deals with two issues:  defining... read more »

My Roses and Thistles

By Iowans Rock | 05/13/09

I decided to mimic the Democrat.........er Des Moines Register's rose and thistle section. A rose goes to Donald Trump in his decision to let Miss California retain her crown.  While the photo fiasco was reason enough to evaluate her reign, we all know why Carrie Prejean was really targeted for a crown stripping.  But Mr. Trump being the businessman that he is realizes the media bonanza this has caused and decided to side with Prejean... read more »

Will the GOP Become Irrelevant?

By Iowans Rock | 05/12/09

I need to be honest about something.  In a recent interview Governor Huckabee stated that if the GOP throws values voters under the bus they will become as irrelevant as the Whigs.  What I am going to be honest about is that I had to google "Whigs."  Sure, I've heard of it before in history classes but nothing stuck in my mind about it.  Is this what future generations will have to do when they hear the term... read more »

Bob Vander Plaats on "Huckabee" with Culver's Mugshot

By Iowans Rock | 05/05/09

Bob Vander Plaats is perhaps the first Iowa gubernatorial candidate to have face time in front of a national audience on a number one rated weekend cable news show.  Chet Culver is also perhaps the first Iowa governor to have his mugshot displayed to this same national audience for not doing his job:  leading. Bob Vander Plaats appeared on Mike Huckabee's top rated FOX News show this past weekend to demonstrate what a real... read more »

Iowa Supreme Court Admits it Can't Make Law

By Iowans Rock | 05/04/09

I was going to start off the week with a post in response to Doug Gross' polling data about the "direction" for the Republican Party in Iowa but then I realized how ridiculous the poll really was.  Imagine getting called up and asked, "If you want to win a marathon which leg should you amputate; the right or the left?"  If you are as smart as I think you are you would surely say, "But a runner would... read more »

Miss California Really Did Win

By Iowans Rock | 04/20/09

I have never been a huge fan of beauty pageants and it has nothing to do with the judging on evening gowns and swimsuits because contestants enter the pageant at their own free will knowing what the criteria is.  While I am all for young women setting a goal and working to achieve it, I just never liked the idea of a select group of people determining who is the winner and who are the losers and the contestants trying to please... read more »

Republican Party of Iowa: Hello, Anybody There?

By Iowans Rock | 04/16/09

It has become increasingly apparent that there are just a handful of Republicans who are stepping forward and fighting the two-fold battle that has surfaced here in Iowa.  The battle against activist judges and them unconstitutionally trying to make law and the battle to let Iowans vote on a marriage amendment. The Iowa Supreme Court's ruling has brought more activists to the statehouse than any other issue that has come up this session,... read more »

Iowa Court Ruling has Vander Plaats' Campaign on Fire

By Iowans Rock | 04/15/09

I have always been and always will be a Bob Vander Plaats supporter, however, I was feeling a little frustrated because I didn't believe that he was taking advantage of all the opportunities the Democrats were giving him to prove what type of governor he would be or to demonstrate how really bad he wanted it.  Then Monday and Tuesday of this week happened and the fire in the belly that I so desperately wanted Vander Plaats to possess came... read more »

Separation of Powers, Gay Affirmation, and Grassley

By Iowans Rock | 04/13/09

The battle continues to wage on here in Iowa against the Iowa Supreme Court's attempt to make same sex marriage a law.  Our nation was not set up on the foundation that a few appointed people in robes could wake up one day and decide something was or was not a law depending on which way the wind was blowing.  Think about it, if that was true they could make anything a law if they wanted to.  Anything.  I am getting sick and... read more »
