BIOGRAPHY
I am a born and raised farm kid who is a strong values voter. The 2008 presidential primary season was the first time I ever supported a candidate in every way. By doing this, I got to see that these social conservative values that I stand for are slowly being eroded away by Republicans who are more concerned with the party than their own principles. I will no longer just check the Republican box during an election. The legislature in Iowa needs to go back to the traditional values that once made this a great state. Second to none schools, strong families, respect for all human life, and a society where God is not pushed or prohibited, but instead always apparent. This is why I am here.COMMENTARIES
Reason #31 Why Marriage is a Winning Issue
By Iowans Rock | 11/04/09
Maine is reason #31 why marriage is a winning issue and the thirty other reasons are the other states who have had the definition of marriage being between on man and one woman upheld by the electorate. Traditional marriage has never lost on the ballot............never............not even in the liberal northeast.............not anywhere in this Obamanation. Traditional marriage even prevailed when his name was at the top... read more »

Back to the Future Branstad
By Iowans Rock | 10/23/09
A week has gone by since former Iowa Governor Terry Branstad resigned from his job at Des Moines University to "explore" the possibility of running for a 5th term. I know that some out there thought the other Republican candidates would buckle in fear and bow out of the race in order to make way for King Branstad but I haven't noticed that happening. In fact, I haven't noticed much at all. In the week leading up to... read more »

Haley Barbour and Michael Reagan Do Not Speak for Me
By Iowans Rock | 09/25/09
Oh the glory of living in a battleground state that holds the First in the Nation Caucuses. It seems the GOP is laying some ground work in Iowa to prepare for the 2012 primary season. Iowa really isn't seeing a whole lot of presidential contenders right now but we are getting a lot of advice about who we should vote for, what principles to leave behind, and the importance of party unity. (Notice there was no discussion about... read more »

Can-Do Conservatives and Bob Vander Plaats: It's About Freedom
By Iowans Rock | 09/21/09
On September 18th some members of Iowa Team Huck and members from Georgia and Indiana sponsored a fundraiser for Iowa gubernatorial candidate Bob Vander Plaats who is endorsed by Governor Mike Huckabee. Conservative activists at the fundraiser were still experience the fallout of Michael Reagan's message during his visit here: throw your principles under the bus just to get Republicans elected. In the wake of this type of... read more »

Rants' Hail Mary and Vander Plaats Pushes Full Steam Ahead
By Iowans Rock | 09/08/09
If someone follows politics at all they realize that bombshells are not dropped until an election draws near. In that way it will not allow the victim/opposition time to recover in time before voters go to the polls (even if the allegations are false). Christopher Rants and his week long launch of attacks on Bob Vander Plaats record as CEO of Opportunities Unlimited has unusual timing with the Republican gubernatorial primary... read more »

Bob Vander Plaats and his "Infammatory" Language?
By Iowans Rock | 08/27/09
Why is the Iowa Democratic Party so infatuated with the Republican gubernatorial candidates more than nine months away from the primary? I realize that they are probably anything but proud of their standard bearer's performance lately and are trying to distract us from that fact, but come on, accusing Bob Vander Plaats of using "rhetoric of armed extremists" is a bit of a stretch. It's one thing to go after Christian Fong for an... read more »

Cogressman Boswell, Did You Read the Bill?
By Iowans Rock | 08/25/09
I attended my first townhall yesterday and it happened to be Representative Leonard Boswell's in Des Moines on the topic of the health care bill. I now realize it will be my last townhall. I have come to the conclusion that a Type A personality like myself is best left to sitting behind the computer as I cannot deal with people who have no sense of individual responsibility. If you have ever seen the movie WALL-E you will recognize... read more »
