The Parable of the Snake

By Michael Tams | 10/29/08

I've told this before a number of times, but it is worth repeating - like any good story - because it instructs us on human nature.A traveler is crossing the countryside and his path takes him through the mountains.  As he climbs higher and higher, the temperature continues to drop until it is quite cold.  As he continues, he comes across a snake in the path."Please" says the snake, "Would you carry me to the other side?  It is... read more »

Tribune Congressional Endorsements

By Michael Tams | 10/22/08

The Chicago Tribune has endorsed Congressional candidates.  The highlights? 7th District: Much as we have a personal fondness for Democratic Rep. Danny Davis, Republican Steve Miller, a Navy veteran and marketing consultant, would bring fresher ideas. Miller is endorsed. Housecleaning and housekeeping

By Michael Tams | 10/22/08

I was thinking the other day that a well run home (or business, or state, or unit of government) requires both of these, and a discerning reader won't require an explanation on the difference.  Perhaps that's where we on the Right have dropped the ball in Cook County and Illinois at large.  We've failed to periodically blow out the cobwebs, and do the routine dusting that keeps things from getting out of hand. Illinois, Inside Out

By Michael Tams | 10/12/08

Editor's note: Hopefully very soon we'll have our other contributors up and running on the Cook County blog.  In the meantime, yours truly has another post. Contrary to the geographical wisdom of the junior Senator from Illinois, of the 50 states in the Union, Illinois ranks 48th in economic performance.  If we have anything at all to be thankful for it is that Ohio and Michigan seem intent on holding their places behind us (source:... read more »

Cook County? Red?

By Michael Tams | 10/10/08

Welcome to the Cook County page of Red County. The team - and you'll get a chance to "meet" each of us - is excited to join Red County and look forward to representing the conservative voices in Cook County and beyond. For starters, a very little bit about me.  I describe my political philosophy as Federalist.  If you're imagining powdered wigs or you're scratching your head wondering what that means, here's a simple summary:... read more »
