Citizens for Limited Taxation Says "Game-On"

By Angela F. F. Davis | 03/20/09

I recently had the pleasure of attending a Citizens for Limited Taxation meeting here in Massachusetts.  It was no surprise that the room was filled with  Republicans and a sprinkle of Libertarians. CLT Associate Director, Chip Faulkner is to be commended both for his leadership and for providing the forum for discussion.Of particular interest were words from veteran CLT Executive Director Barbara Anderson.  In her wisdom she has placed a... read more »

The Decline of a Civilization Due to Increased Taxation

By Angela F. F. Davis | 03/07/09

I offer, for your consideration, the historic decline of one notable civilization and its relationship to increased taxation, namely the Roman Empire. We can cite specific examples of the system of taxation exceeding the ability of its people to pay.  The decline of that society unfolded slowly.  In fact it is fully recorded that Romans experienced relief when invaders came because they were  regarded as freeing them from the... read more »

MASSACHUSETTS, GET YOUR 1.06.11 stickers here!!!

By Angela F. F. Davis | 02/25/09

Are you still looking forward to a property tax cut?  Are you still waiting for the 1000 new police officers to hit our streets?  How about the promise to cut millions in wasteful spending? So much for Governor Patrick's campaign promises. Instead of cutting taxes, our Democratic Governor resorted to the old tax-and-spend policies of Mike Dukakis.  Tolls, registry fees and the gas tax are on their way up while frivolous spending continues... read more »

Are You Being Served?

By Angela F. F. Davis | 02/20/09

We look to those who step into public service as understanding the basic tenets of performing with integrity and honesty.  The other hope is that the candidate's heart and mind holds close the duties of serving their constituents and the greater good of society.  In a perfect world, no self-serving hidden agenda, just a big slice of humble pie.   It would appear, due to the charges leveled against a widening group of elected officials... read more »

Don't Pass the Pork

By Angela F. F. Davis | 02/07/09

The House version of the economic stimulus plan cannot  pass through the Senate as it reads today.  Before it is pushed through the Senate  the waste must be stripped out of the plan prior to the Senate vote.Senators Snowe, Collins, and Specter cannot possibly defend this package tonite and cast a vote in favor of it.  The taxpayers are demanding their sensibility. The next 48 hours will reveal the outcome of a bipartisan huddle... read more »

Is Duncan the Best Strategic Move We've Got?

By Angela F. F. Davis | 01/26/09

Duncan = Rove. And if you are fine with that, move forward and cast your ballot for Duncan. However, for the rest of you that are acutely aware of the present environmental factors within the GOP and RNC hear this:In order to act strategically and garner the strength the GOP needs, financially and otherwise, logic would dictate that we need to move away from that alliance, of Duncan equals Rove,  and along with it,  the people... read more »
