BIOGRAPHY
For the last 20 years involved in home building, real estate and mortgage finance. Grew up in Indianapolis and moved to Northwest Indiana 10 years ago. Married and proud father of four great kids. In 1999 got my first taste of politics in the City of Valparaiso mayoral election, we lost to a 5 term Democrat incumbent. During the next four years though the conservatives in our area really began a major re-tooling culminating in 2003 with Mayor Jon Costas being elected over that same incumbent in a landslide, delivering the entire city council in his coat-tails. I was privileged to chair that campaign. Over the next couple years of course we then were able to work closely with new Governor Mitch Daniels and dozens of county and state races. Currently I maintain several consulting contracts with small businesses, focusing on strategic planning and business development, as well as remaining very involved in the mortgage business. Blogging started as a hobby four years ago, with a friend asking if I would post my thoughts each day on local news. Our local media is dominated by two newspapers and opposing views were difficult to find. Today I am editing roughly 20 sites, active on social networks focused on politics and real estate, as well as more than busy with my family.

Live Blogging Election Day from Indiana
By Steve Dalton | 11/03/08
Yes, I will be trying my hand at live blogging election day, with personal trips to precincts, calls to GOP faithful, and a keen eye on any and all breaking news. Along those line, tonite we see the following news, which I reprint from Hoosier Access:Very late in the game, the Alaska Personnel Board investigator has released his report clearing Governor Palin of violating any ethics rules in the "reassignment" (leading to him quiting) of... read more »

The McCain Upset Win
By Steve Dalton | 11/03/08
From NextGenGop.comFinal Electoral Predictions: What a McCain Upset Would Look LikeNov 3rd, 2008By Aaron Marks. At this point, I don't think that any of us can effectively predict what the outcome of tomorrow's elections will be. Quite frankly, I'm not even sure that we'll know the who the next President of the United States is going to be for many hours, if not days, after polls close. That said, it seems that there are three... read more »

Indiana - Voter Fraud Problems
By Steve Dalton | 11/02/08
Marion County Absentee Ballot Confusion There has been a great deal of confusion over the lawsuit Marion County Republicans filed against the Marion Co. Election Board this week, Schoettle v. Marion Co. Election Board, in which Circuit Court Judge Ted Sosin had to order the county to follow the law and not process provisional ballots into the voting systems at polling places on election day, thereby commingling them with otherwise validly cast... read more »

Orson Scott Card's Powerful McCain Endorsement
By Steve Dalton | 10/30/08
From the Ornery American and science fiction writer Orson Scott Card the powerful words of his most recent article: What Really Matters as we Vote. The highlights, since now that I know who's writing these I find it unimaginable to copy the whole thing:The air is now so full of floating feathers that it's hard to see the furniture, and the media isn't helping, as they blow the fluff around. But he goes on to say there are... read more »

Where did the real journalists go? Orson Scott Card
By Steve Dalton | 10/22/08
Here's the genesis of this artice: Rush Limbaugh read it today on air, I posted a tweet about it and then got quite a few requests for a link to the article from friendfeed followers. So I went searching, and (update) found the article on the author's blog. An open letter to the local daily paper -- almost every local daily paper in America (Orson Scott Card) originally posted on a website that for some reason is no... read more »

Obama hypocritical on pay for women
By Steve Dalton | 10/21/08
The two charts will say it all (from Carpe Diem) Senator Obama pays his own female staff quite a bit less than his male staff. No spin, just the facts.Oh, by the way, and I'll let you go to the original post, John McCain pays almost the same to his staff ... actually just a little bit more to his female staffers. Thanks to Doctor Perry for this very visual example of Senator Obama's hypocrisy read more »

Pay some taxes first - before you get a tax refund from Obama
By Steve Dalton | 10/20/08
Should pay some taxes to get some back - right? I'm a little confused, like many Americans I was starting to believe Barack Obama's claims that he would lower the taxes on 95% of Americans, he said it enough times. But now the truth comes out - many of the people would get checks who didn't pay any taxes in the first place. That's ridiculousObama has claimed that he would lower taxes on 95% of workers - even though more than 50% of workers... read more »

Are voters so easily manipulated?
By Steve Dalton | 10/15/08
Are the voters of the United States of America going to allow themselves to be manipulated by netroots trolls, Obama-mania, the major media and "prevailing opinion?"First the facts:The race for President is actually too close to callMillions of new registrations have been submitted to vote, but they are untested voters who may or may not even show up at the polls. When polling registered voters Obama tends to lead by a larger amount than... read more »

Presidential Race tightens to 4 points
By Steve Dalton | 10/12/08
Let's not choose some weird poll, let's go with Gallup today! The headline suggests that the race has tightened to 7 points, not the 4 points in my headline, but dig in and read the whole post to get the gist of the estimation they are doing. The first likely voter model is based on Gallup's traditional likely voter assumptions, which determine respondents' likelihood to vote based on how they answer questions about their current voting... read more »

Will Obama Run Low on Cash this Month?
By Steve Dalton | 10/11/08
Report: Barack went for knock-out earlyIs Barack Obama faced with mounting expenses and running out of cash? I guess those of us who support John McCain hope this is true. There is no doubt that Obama had more cash on hand than McCain going into October. But, the Republican Party has a ton more cash on hand than the Democratic Party.American Thinker follows up on a couple posts from WLS at Pat Patterico's site. and this Washington Post blogObama... read more »
