Key PA endorsement for Pat Toomey Senate run
By Tony Phyrillas | 05/14/09
The man who succeeded former U.S. Rep. Pat Toomey in representing Pennsylvania's 15th Congressional District had nothing but nice things to say about his predecessor in a radio interview. Moderate Republican Congressman Charlie Dent publicly endorsed Toomey for the U.S. Senate on WAEB this morning. Listen to the endorsement at this link: http://www.toomeyforsenate.com/news/051409-audio.php Among the compliments Dent offered: "Pat... read more »

A new report says more Pennsylvanians are struggling to survive economically. From an article in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: One in five Pennsylvania households do not make enough money to meet basic needs even though many live above the federal poverty level, according to a study released Monday. "It's not a lack of work effort that's a problem," Diana M. Pearce, director of the Center for Women's Welfare at the University... read more »

Arlen Specter Gets the Shaft from Democrats
By Tony Phyrillas | 05/06/09
Arlen Specter has picked out his 2010 campaign theme song: "Poor, Poor Pitiful Me" by Warren Zevon. For an 80-year-old man, Arlen Specter doesn't know much about history. Benedict Arlen should have read the story of Benedict Arnold to see how a traitor is treated. Arlen Specter's main argument for re-election has been his seniority in the Senate, where he has served as a Republican since 1981. As a senior member of various... read more »

By Tony Phyrillas | 05/02/09
Pennsylvania took in nearly $1 billion less than anticipated in tax revenues for the month of April, sending the state's already massive budget deficit to historic levels. The state collected $3 billion in General Fund revenue in April, but that was $941.5 million, or 24.2 percent below what state officials projected, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue. Arlen Specter May Still Lose in Pennsylvania
By Tony Phyrillas | 04/28/09
So Arlen Specter is now a Democrat. What exactly has changed? He's been voting with the Democrats for decades. Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele issued the following statement: "Let's be honest: Senator Specter didn't leave the GOP based on principles of any kind. He left to further his personal political interests because he knew that he was going to lose a Republican primary due to his left-wing voting record.... read more »

Media Hypes Obama Job Approval Numbers
By Tony Phyrillas | 04/26/09
Should anyone be surprised that the Obama Media is misleading the American public about The Chosen One's job approval numbers? After all, this is the same media that helped elect Obama. Judith Apter Klinghoffer, writing for George Mason University's History News Network blog, says that the Gallup poll shows Obama's 56 percent job approval rating trails that of George W. Bush's 62 percent approval for the same time in his presidency. Yet,... read more »

Are You a Domestic Terrorist?
By Tony Phyrillas | 04/16/09
If you are a military veteran ... If you believe the U.S. must do more to stem the flow of illegal aliens ... If you oppose abortion-on-demand ... If you protest high taxation and out-of-control government spending ... You are a potential domestic terrorist, according to a new assessment released by the Obama Department of Homeland Security. This would be the same Homeland Security Department that has banned the use of the word... read more »

It's Official: Toomey vs. Specter
By Tony Phyrillas | 04/15/09
A couple days after stepping down as president of the Club for Growth, former U.S. Congressman Pat Toomey made it official: He will challenge U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter in the 2010 Republican Primary. "Pennsylvanians deserve a voice in the U.S. Senate that will honor our values and fight for limited government, individual freedom and fiscal responsibility," Toomey said. "I will be that voice." It's no coincidence Toomey... read more »

Congressional Big Spenders
By Tony Phyrillas | 04/09/09

GOP: A Permanent Minority Party?
By Tony Phyrillas | 04/08/09
Startling numbers from the Pew Research Center about the decline of the Republican Party. Among registered voters, just 28 percent identify themselves as Republicans, a decline of 5 points since 2004 and only 1 point above a record low level of Republican self-identification in 16 years of polling by the Pew Research Center. The survey found 38 percent of registered voters identified as Democrats and 34 percent identified as independents.... read more »
