BIOGRAPHY

Gary is Director of Sales for a leading developer of e-Learning based business solutions, headquartered in Portland, OR. His formal education was completed at Indiana State University. Although Gary is a native Hoosier, he lived in Orange County, CA, from 1978 to 2005 and he considers that area to be "back home". Now a resident of Vancouver, WA, Gary has found the move from the political environment of Orange County (the nation's Reddest County) to the very Blue political environment of the Portland, OR/Vancouver, WA area, to be quite challenging. However, he remains determined that Conservative views are heard, regardless of his circumstances.

A Prayer In Baltimore

By Gary Wiram | 01/20/09

Although I didn't vote for Barack Obama, I do want his presidency to be successful. However, as the public celebratory events started on the weekend prior to Obama's inauguration, I have to admit that I wasn't drawn to join in the celebration. In fact, I found myself going into sort of an "auto-tune-out" mode. I suspect I'm not alone in this. However, I really do want to be supportive of the Obama administration where I can and I want to... read more »

Thank You Mr. President and Farewell!

By Gary Wiram | 01/16/09

With just over one week left in his administration, President George W. Bush gave his final press conference. Then, with only four full days remaining in his presidency, Bush 43 made his Farewell Address to the nation. In both cases, Fox News was among the few sources I found that, simply, published the transcripts of these events. Otherwise, most mainstream media outlets published their own particular slant on these occasions. Not... read more »

Dear Barack: How To Be "My Hero!", If You're Interested?!

By Gary Wiram | 01/09/09

It didn't take long for "the race card" to make it into the news in 2009. The related story was about Roland Burris. Who had played "the card" and the effect of its playing varied, depending on whose report you read, but "the race card" was clearly played ... and just when I was hoping we could take it out of "the deck"! Considering our nation's history, maybe that's not such a realistic expectation. But, it has seemed to me that it might be... read more »

Julie Nixon Eisenhower for U.S. Senator from CA

By Gary Wiram | 12/18/08

OK, here's my proposal: Get President-Elect Barack Obama to appoint Barbara Boxer, U.S. Senator from CA, to some post in his administration and have The Governator appoint Julie Nixon Eisenhower to Boxer's vacated Senate seat. Crazy, you say?! Not so, I say! Especially, when compared to the current movement to have Caroline Kennedy replace Hillary Clinton, as U.S. Senator from NY.Here are some of the reasons that this makes perfect sense:First,... read more »

It's Not Your Speaker's Swamp Anymore

By Gary Wiram | 12/10/08

At the outset of the current Congress, Speaker Pelosi stated that the preceding decade of Republican majority in Congress had resulted in a "culture of corruption". Her infamous promise with this was to "drain the swamp". Sadly, for our nation, we're regularly reminded that there is a "diseased swamp" in U.S. politics that extends far beyond the D.C. Beltway. And, the vermin who come crawling out of that slimy slough are found to be of the... read more »

What A "Little Birdie" Told Me About Getting A Better U.S. Government

By Gary Wiram | 12/04/08

Since I'm a Blogger for Red County, I guess it's pretty obvious that I'm a "Red Guy". If you dig a bit deeper, you'll find that I'm also a "Sales Guy". When I give my "elevator pitch", relative to my Sales role, I typically say that my background is primarily with "technology-based business-to-business systems solutions". With that in mind, I'm sure that the Democrat's superior use of technology in the recent Presidential election, especially... read more »

The Lincoln-Douglas Debate On CA's Proposition 8

By Gary Wiram | 11/26/08

There's one matter related to the 2008 General Election, in the U.S., that I'm still lamenting. Ironically, it has nothing to do with an outcome. It's more about how we, fellow Americans, are treating each other, in expressing our differing points of view.Although I no longer live in California and thus, didn't cast a vote on that State's Proposition 8, I observed a few things about the related campaigns that exemplify the cause of my... read more »

Wins, Losses, Red-Flags & Goals.

By Gary Wiram | 11/06/08

Arguably, if not for the global financial crisis, John McCain might have won his 2008 bid to be President. Of course, that's a big "if" and in fact, he lost this year's run for President. But, I still see a bit of a "win" in this for the Republican Party. Running against our less-than-perfect Presidential Candidate, in a time when nearly every major trend was going against our Party, the Democrat's phenomenally popular Presidential... read more »

Take Back Congress 2010! Palin For President 2012!

By Gary Wiram | 10/30/08

My crystal ball isn't any clearer than yours. So, I don't know if the morning of November 5th, 2008, will turn out to be as bleak, for Republicans, as it seems it might, based on today's indicators. Regardless, I believe it's well past time for Republicans to do what the popular business management book Good To Great calls "Confronting the brutal facts." The brutal facts are: Our compatriots are continuing to choose "Change" because our... read more »

Can McCain Still Get A Split-Decision?

By Gary Wiram | 10/16/08

A McCain knockout was not a realistic expectation for the final debate of the 2008 Presidential Campaign. I'm not sure if there's a well known boxer whose style parallel's McCain's style, as a politician, but Obama certainly has the political equivalent of Ali's "Float like a butterfly ..." technique. In other words, though there are many legitimate heavy punches that should come his way, he's proven himself too deft to be caught with one... read more »
