BIOGRAPHY
Gary is Director of Sales for a leading developer of e-Learning based business solutions, headquartered in Portland, OR. His formal education was completed at Indiana State University. Although Gary is a native Hoosier, he lived in Orange County, CA, from 1978 to 2005 and he considers that area to be "back home". Now a resident of Vancouver, WA, Gary has found the move from the political environment of Orange County (the nation's Reddest County) to the very Blue political environment of the Portland, OR/Vancouver, WA area, to be quite challenging. However, he remains determined that Conservative views are heard, regardless of his circumstances.

One-Size-Fits-All Government Not A Good Fit, Even In Oregon
By Gary Wiram | 05/30/09
The Sheriff of Multnomah County Oregon is 70-year-old Bob Skipper. Prior to his 2008 appointment to this position (and subsequent election in November, 2008), Skipper had been out of law enforcement for 13 years. Since an elected Sheriff in Oregon is required to hold a basic police certification, as determined by the Board and Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (BPSST and DPSST) and they typically require anyone who has been out... read more »

If Only Obama’s Actions Matched His Words … This Time, On Abortion
By Gary Wiram | 05/17/09
Today, at Notre Dame, President Obama was, literally and figuratively, “preaching to the choir.” And, as usual, the words of his “sermon” (or homily) were eloquent and appealing. In fact, I’m in complete agreement with him when he said, “… when we open up our hearts and our minds to those who may not think precisely like we do or believe precisely what we believe — that's when we discover at least... read more »

Top Conservatives On Twitter: Missing The Mark
By Gary Wiram | 04/27/09
Last November, Top Conservatives On Twitter (#TCOT) debuted on the web. Michael Leahy and Rob Neppell (two great young conservative guys) were the driving force behind this. As a Conservative who had joined Twitter about seven months prior to #TCOT’s first appearance, I was excited with this development and I joined the group right away. As you may recall, this past November was not an especially happy time for Conservatives. We had just... read more »

How Does “Baird Marketing Baird” Fit With Representing His Congressional District?
By Gary Wiram | 04/26/09
According to http://taxdayteaparty.com/, “On April 15th, (2009) hundreds of thousands of citizens gathered in more than 800 cities to voice their opposition to out of control spending at all levels of government. Organized in all 50 states by Americans from all walks of life, these ‘tea parties’ were a true grassroots protest of irresponsible fiscal policies and intrusive government.” In the lead-up to this nationwide... read more »

Longing For Hillary, Ready On Day-One
By Gary Wiram | 03/21/09
It's hard for me to imagine circumstances that would lead me to vote for Hillary Clinton. But, the inept performance of the Obama administration, so far, has me longing to have a President who was "Ready On Day-One" ... as the Clinton for President Campaign slogan claimed. Arguably, if not for the economy tanking, Barack Obama would not be President. When the economy headed south, the McCain/Palin ticket was ahead in the polls. So, it's... read more »

The “Leaderless” GOP
By Gary Wiram | 03/17/09
The recent Rush Limbaugh/Michael Steele kerfuffle was resolved, beginning with RNC Chairman Steele, graciously, offering his apology to the renowned Conservative Talk Show Host. That sort of petty in-fighting is always troubling to see but I'm thankful it was dealt with so expediently. However, there was a resulting theme, that rose up in the media, that seems to have lingered and that has continued to burden me. It's the view that The GOP Is... read more »

Hollywood's Strident Hatred For Conservatives
By Gary Wiram | 02/26/09
My first recollection of going to a movie was in 1952. I still remember standing in the ticket-line with my Mom, outside the Grand Theater in my hometown, waiting to see "Singin' in the Rain". From that point forward, being a "movie-goer" became part of my life. I suppose that's true for the majority of American Baby Boomers. Over the years, however, it seems that "the world headquarters for movies", Hollywood, has become more and more of a... read more »

"Say What They Wanna Hear, Do What We Wanna Do" - Obama Administration Motto
By Gary Wiram | 02/19/09
In an earlier post, entitled "A Prayer In Baltimore", I stated that "I really do want to be supportive of the Obama administration where I can." In that same article, I went on to say that "There are many issues where I'm in disagreement with our incoming President" and that "When and if the Obama administration becomes proactive with (such issues) ... you can look for me to oppose that as strenuously as I know how." When I wrote that, I... read more »

Daschle, My Fellow Consultant
By Gary Wiram | 02/05/09
I don't think that Former Senator Tom Daschle's Consulting Fees received the attention they deserve, in the recent hubbub surrounding his nomination for U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services. It's true that his failure to pay taxes on one month's consulting fees got a lot of notice but I haven't heard much said about the fee itself. Since I started my own consulting practice in 2008, I was pretty impressed with the amount of the... read more »

Baird Joins Deafening Democrat Chorus, Singing "I Won!"
By Gary Wiram | 01/30/09
Yesterday, on his Official Web Site, my Congressman, Brian Baird (D-WA-03), announced his Yes-Vote on the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and stated that, in doing this, he "has taken decisive action to help stimulate the stagnant economy, and rebuild America's infrastructure in the process." He went on to say that, with his Yes-Vote on this legislation; he had "joined with a majority of Members of Congress." Since I was opposed to... read more »
