Some Speeches are Better Than Others By Alan Caruba
By Dr. Richard Swier | 09/12/08
Some speeches are better than others. Sen. Barack Obama knows how to deliver a speech, but his acceptance speech was familiar stuff to anyone who has been listening to politicians as long as I have. Permit me a bit of cynicism because sometimes it allows you to separate the wheat from the chaff. It is a bit of luck that Barack Obama's acceptance speech was given on the forty-fifth anniversary of Dr. King's famed "I've got a dream" speech. That... read more »

SHREWD SAUDI ROYALS MANIPULATE OTHER POWERS By Nick Catsakis
By Dr. Richard Swier | 09/12/08
Geopolitical gurus generally regard as America's potentially greatest rivals some emerging world powers like China and India. Notwithstanding, it is a grave omission not to also focus on the Muslim Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and neighboring petro-sheikdoms. By selling us oil, they wield astronomical wealth, power and influence. They have increasingly been able to use and manipulate other powers, including the United States, for their own aims,... read more »

Playing God with "Endangered" Species By Alan Caruba
By Dr. Richard Swier | 09/12/08
In mid-August Barack Obama had this to say about a White House decision regarding the Endangered Species Act: "After over 30 years of successfully protecting our nation's most endangered wildlife like the bald eagle, we should be looking for ways to improve it, not weaken it." The White House executive order would eliminate the need for the advice of government scientists and permit the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service of the Department of... read more »

A Culture of Hate in America
By Dr. Richard Swier | 09/12/08
Since the announcement of Governor Sarah Palin as John McCain's running mate I have been disturbed seeing the hate mongers come out in force. Hate speech abounds and it is primarily from the left wing of America. It is being printed in major news papers like the New York Times and on the public web forums of local papers like the Sarasota Herald-Tribune (0wned by the NY Times Company).I am compelled to report a number of incidents of hate... read more »

AhMADinejad by Alan Caruba
By Dr. Richard Swier | 09/12/08
Mamoud Ahmadinejad, the president of Iran, was bouncing off the walls in August. Hardly a day went by without his getting crazier and crazier about Zionism, Israel, and Jews in general. The last guy who talked like this was Adolf Hitler and he started World War Two.Here's just a sample of Ahmadinejad's ravings:"About 2,000 organized Zionists and 7,000 to 8,000 agents of Zionism have dragged the world into turmoil." Last time I checked most... read more »

The Most Important Election Of Our Lifetime by Don O'Nesky
By Dr. Richard Swier | 09/12/08
In his book '100 People Who Are Screwing Up America,' Bernard Goldberg asked and answered an interesting question. "So, what is it that so many ordinary Americans want? It's actually pretty simple. We want a little more appreciation for the values that most of -- liberals as well as conservatives, Democrats as well as Republicans -- used to take for granted: civility, mutual respect, a semblance of decency and yes ... a little old-fashioned... read more »

Victory In Iraq, WE HAVE WON! by Matt Bruce
By Dr. Richard Swier | 09/12/08
SARASOTA, FL (NS/WND) - What kind of headline would you expect newspapers nationwide to trumpet if America won the war in Iraq and destroyed al-Qaida there? Maybe something like this? "VICTORY IN IRAQ ! AL-QAIDA SMASHED!"Perhaps even old-fashioned newsboys on the street corners, yelling"Extra, extra! Vic'try in Iraq ! Read all about it!" Don't hold your breath. You won't see such headlines in American newspapers or leading network... read more »

Are you better off today than when you were when the Democrats took control of Congress in 2006?
By Dr. Richard Swier | 09/12/08
You have got to love the liberal Sarasota Herald-Tribune in their editorial, "On the brink of history".In it they replay the Democrat talking points. The problem is Governor Sarah Palin has changed the game completely. In one single historic decision Senator McCain has made "reform" and "changing" Washington his campaign theme. With the pick of Governor Sarah Palin, Obama no longer owns, if he ever did, the "change" mantra. Change now belongs... read more »

Democrat Deceptions about Oil By Alan Caruba
By Dr. Richard Swier | 09/12/08
Lost amidst the many speeches delivered at the Democrat Convention was one by Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada. He is the Senate Majority Leader and, as such, controls the legislative agenda in that upper house of Congress. Harry Reid hates oil, but then, so does the Democrat Party. The reason this nation is held hostage to other oil producing nations is that the Democrats, going back to President Jimmy Carter, have waged war on the American... read more »
