How's That Global Warming Thing Going?
By Michael Costello | 12/28/08
I suspect that even Seattlistas are growing skeptical of global warming these days. With thousands of holiday travelers stranded at SeaTac International Airport by extreme winter weather and the entire western side of the state paralyzed by heavy snows, global warming alarmists might find their theories a tough sell in that typically most receptive of markets for leftwing causes. Last weekend Spokane's... read more »

What The Shoe Throwing "Hero" Tells Us About Our Own Media
By Michael Costello | 12/20/08
I'm a little confused. Earlier this week an Iraqi journalist did what most American journalists wish they could do. At a press conference in Baghdad the reporter, Muntazer al-Zaidi of the Cairo-based Al-Baghdadia, first hurled insults, then threw his shoes at president Bush. The American news media immediately canonized the fellow and reported that he was a hero in the Arab world and a spokesman for the Arab street. Imagine... read more »

By Michael Costello | 12/11/08
This is bad news in the very competitive commercial airliner industry. Boeing had a hit on its hands, but the delivery date keeps getting pushed back. Boeing has confirmed that the 787 Dreamliner jet will not be available for commercial service until 2010, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.In a news release Thursday, the company announced an updated schedule for the plane that moves the commercial jet's first flight into the second quarter of 2009... read more »

Obama's Foreign Policy Already a Miserable Failure
By Michael Costello | 12/08/08
Iran has told Obama to take a hike. Iran has rejected a suggestion by U.S. President-elect Barack Obama that a carrot and stick policy of economic incentives and additional sanctions might persuade the Iranian government to change its behavior.Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Hasan Qashqavi, said Monday that Obama's proposed policy was unacceptable and had failed in the past.Obama told NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday that the international... read more »

Nobody Wants To Coach The Huskies
By Michael Costello | 12/04/08
Fresno State's Pat Hill and Texas Tech's Mike Leach both took one look at Ewe-Dub and withdrew their names from consideration.I guess Hitler was right. Texas Tech coach Mike Leach and Fresno State coach Pat Hill have both withdrawn from consideration for the head coaching job at Washington. Leach withdrew Thursday, a person close to the Red Raiders coach told ESPN.com. Texas Tech athletic director Gerald Myers said earlier in the week that... read more »

Answering Dr. Chuck
By Michael Costello | 11/22/08
A couple of weeks ago, the Palouse's leftwing clodfather, Charles Pezeshki penned a remarkably childlike screed for the Moscow-Pullman Daily News celebrating the Democrats' electoral victory. The column betrayed all the ignorance that we've come to expect from Obama voters.I wrote a letter to the editor in reply and was asked to shorten it in compliance with the paper's letters policy. I did so and sent it back. Two weeks later, the Daily News... read more »

Crushing Dissent - Washington Style
By Michael Costello | 11/22/08
Lobbyist. The word has been made to sound dirty. When that word is uttered by a television news correspondent contempt drips from his or her voice, usually with a facial expression conveying disgust. Lobbyists are contemptible vermin who represent "special interests," another bad word that responsible parents spell out when children are in the room. Lobbyists are so vile that nobody steps forward to defend them when good... read more »

Boeing Promises Layoffs
By Michael Costello | 11/22/08
One has to wonder what sort of morons would cripple their employer during hard economic times. Actually, one doesn't have to wonder. That's just what the machinists union did to Boeing recently. And now, their folly is about to start paying dividends: Boeing is planning major layoffs in 2009. The jobs warning came in a companywide memo to employees, and was sent one day after Boeing announced it was reducing its work force in Wichita, Kan., by... read more »

Long Lines At Ohio's Cemetery Polling Sites
By Michael Costello | 11/03/08
Ohio's deceased are turning out in record numbers to cast votes in the election. Now, on the eve of an historic election -- when every vote in Cuyahoga County is considered crucial -- our NewsChannel5 investigation has once again uncovered thousands of dead voters still on the rolls, and ballots still being cast from beyond. The exact number of dead voters is difficult to say this time because Ohio's Secretary of State issued a directive to... read more »
