BIOGRAPHY
Tom was born and raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, but now calls the rolling hills of the Palouse region of Washington state home.
A 1985 graduate of Ferrum College with a degree in International Relations, Tom has been active in politics since he was a delegate to the 1993 Virginia Republican Party Convention, the largest ever deliberative body assembled in the Western world at the time. He currently serves as a Precinct Committee Officer in the Whitman County (WA) Republican Party. He was the Whitman County coordinator for Mike Huckabee for President 2008, has managed/advised several campaigns for local and statewide office, and is very involved in grassroots political movements.
Tom founded the conservative blog Palousitics in June 2005, joining the Red County network of blogs in August 2008. His political viewpoints have also been featured in a local newspaper column and a weekly radio talk show.

What I Saw At The Revolution
By Tom Forbes | 10/12/09
On Saturday, I had the privilege of speaking at the Evergreen Leadership Conference held over in Bellevue. Clearly, a conservative revolution is brewing in this state and nationwide. The ELC committee did an amazing job of bringing the disparate elements of this movement together from all over the state: the Ron Paul supporters in the Campaign for Liberty, the Tea Party organizers, values voters, Second Amendment... read more »

Edward R. Murrow Wept
By Tom Forbes | 10/09/09
"Pullman's paper of record," the Daily Evergreen, had a Tweet today that "FYI we're working on a full clarification of the Whitman County / Colfax trials story to run on front-page next week." In case you missed it, there was a front-page banner headline story yesterday that preposterously claimed that the city of Colfax alone bore all the costs of prosecuting criminal cases in Whitman County, including those from... read more »

Who Really Supports I-1033? The Answer Might Surprise You
By Tom Forbes | 10/07/09
In a cherry-picking op-ed column in yesterday's Daily Evergreen titled "Students should oppose I-1033," Derrick Skaug wrote that, "This initiative has very little support" (Skaug also incredibly claims that "Government spending is one of the best ways to move out of a recession." But that's a subject for ridicule another time.) A recent Rasmussen Reports poll shows that I-1033 is ahead... read more »

Pullman Candidate and Initiatives Forum Quick Takes
By Tom Forbes | 10/06/09
9th Legislative District State Representative It's obvious that Pat Hailey's campaign strategy is to use the farmer vs. non-farmer, rural vs. urban, in-state vs. out-of-state, outsider, vs.insider, next door neighbor vs. corporate lobbysist, David vs. Goliath memes against Susan Fagan. Pretty smart. I probably would advise a similar approach if I were managing her campaign, especially with the anti-incumbent mood currently extant in... read more »

I-1033: Time to Tame the Beast of State Spending in Washington
By Tom Forbes | 09/30/09
It is reported in today's Moscow-Pullman Daily News: [Pullman City] Council members also passed a resolution opposing Washington's Initiative 1033, which will appear on November's ballot this year. Initiative 1033 would set a city and county revenue limit for 2010 based on this year's revenue. Should the city's income surpass the predetermined amount, the overflow money is required to be deposited into an account that can only be used to... read more »
