Hey Ammiano, It's the 'California' State Assembly Not the 'Gay' State Assembly
By Ken Mettler | 11/09/09
Don't our legislators have anything better to do other than constantly force the homosexual lifestyle on the citizens? "The openly gay, first-year lawmaker (Tom Ammiano) with the gold stud in his left ear is just as likely to dance in salsa steps through the political aisle as reach across it...Behind the wisecracks is a San Francisco Democrat whose proposals this year include a resolution opposing a ban on same-sex... read more »

State needs a ballot initiative banning public-employee unions from politics
By Ken Mettler | 11/03/09
Ken Mettler, in The Bakersfield Californian- "The Tea Party Patriots have a solution to create meaningful political reform in California. It is to reduce the disproportionate power of the public employee unions, which form the largest special interest in politics by far. For example, the California Teachers Association alone has 300,000 members, each of whom are required to pay union dues of approximately $1,000. Out of these dues,... read more »

Why California is Broke
By Ken Mettler | 06/29/09
As Assemblyman Chuck DeVore and candidate for US Senate has so aptly stated, “California, with 12 percent of the nation’s population now has 32 percent of the nation’s welfare recipients according to the Federal Department of Health and Human Services. California’s welfare rate was 7.1 times that of Texas, the next largest state – and a border state at that with large numbers of illegal immigrants.” Further,... read more »

SAVE OUR KIDS' EDUCATION
By Ken Mettler | 06/23/09
Bakersfield—The Kern High School District Board of Trustees (KHSD) are contemplating eliminating junior varsity sports and reducing summer school programs to achieve budget cuts of an additional $30 million on top of the $20 million previously cut. It’s now time for the Board to think “outside the box” and demand that further cuts not impact our kids’ education. Considering that 85% of the KHSD general... read more »

Assembly Democrats Bully & Insult Conservative Leaders
By Ken Mettler | 06/21/09
On Wednesday, June 17th, the Assembly Education Committee heard testimony on SB 572, the bill that mandates every May 22nd as Harvey Milk Day in California. The bill encourages schools to celebrate Harvey Milk’s so-called “contributions” to society. Children as young as five would be taught about Milk’s homosexual activism. The bill passed the committee on a party-line vote, but not before committee Democrats attacked the... read more »

Bakersfield "Leaders" Lean Left of the Bay Area...and Insult the Citizens Who Object
By Ken Mettler | 06/16/09
Here in Bakersfield, our leaders have determined that record-setting foreclosure rates, depressingly high unemployment, bankruptcies across industries and historic devastation to the area’s homebuilding industry is the perfect time to...you guessed it...RAISE fees! The brilliant plan would charge homebuyers an additional $6,000.00 for their new home – mostly because everyone knows that only new homebuyers drive on city roads but also... read more »

By Ken Mettler | 03/11/09
What recession?....not for one lucky developer. The city of Bakersfield City Council (Politburo) is giving 1.5 acres of taxpayer owned property to a developer to build 57 subsidized apartments. The best part is that the taxpayers will be giving a $2.7 million dollar loan to the developer interest free for 55 years.............wow, how many taxpaying homeowners have received their building lot for free and an interest free mortgage for 55... read more »
