Just Like Chief Bratton
By JL "Buzz" Aguirre | 10/27/09
Reportedly, the public will know the name of the person destined to fill the over-sized shoes of outgoing LAPD Chief William Bratton any minute now. A five-member panel has been going over the qualifications of 13 applicants interviewed last week and will winnow it down to three finalists. The names of the finalists will then be forwarded to the Mayor for the final cut. In previous interviews Police... read more »

Real News, Lap Dogs, Watchdogs or Talk Shows?
By JL "Buzz" Aguirre | 10/23/09
If you thought that S. 448, the Free Flow of Information Act was important before, it should be even more important now. What with the White House refusing to allow The Fox News Network in the news pool to interview Pay Czar Kennet Feinberg. "There was an announcement by the Administration that they were putting out the pay Czar Kenneth Feinberg as we showed you earlier, for the White House pool, they sent out a message... read more »

"First Real Afghanistan Strategy" Has Been Costly
By JL "Buzz" Aguirre | 10/19/09
Recently Secretary of Defense Robert Gates asserted that the Afghanistan strategy unveiled March 2009 was the first real strategy in the last eight years. An interesting comment considering that Secretary Gates served as Defense Secretary in the Bush administration when he replaced Secretary Donald Rumsfeld in January 2007. One can only wonder what Secretary Gate’s contribution was between the time he replaced Secretary Rumsfeld and March... read more »

Constitutionality of New FTC Blogger Rules Questioned
By JL "Buzz" Aguirre | 10/17/09
Are the new Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) blogger rules just another White House attempt at trampling the US Constitution? Apparently the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) seems to think so. Not only that, but the IAB thinks that the White House-friendly media gets Constitutional protection, while the new media is discriminated against. The FTC's guidelines are set to go into effect at the beginning of December 2009. “ The practices... read more »

85 Troops Die Since McChrystal’s Request
By JL "Buzz" Aguirre | 10/04/09
Under much criticism for the way the war on Afghanistan was being managed, Gen. David McKiernan was replaced by General McChrystal to lead what was to be a strong counterinsurgency strategy. "We couldn't pick two better officers," Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen said in May, referring to President Obama's selection of Gen. McChrystal, as the administration’s ace in the hole in Afghanistan and the man who would... read more »

An argument for Orange County eDistrictAttorney
By JL "Buzz" Aguirre | 09/16/09
When Rudy Giuliani was elected New York mayor, the city had some 2,200 murders per year, so he immediately hired William Bratton as police chief to completely revamp the department’s culture. Bratton wasted no time. He decentralized the stove-piped NYPD, put more cops on the street and did block-by-block crime analysis, deploying patrols to hot spots. By the end of Bratton’s first year, crime had declined by 12%; in 1995, it fell... read more »

Legislative Alert: Federal Shield Law & Pelosi's Shut Up Rule
By JL "Buzz" Aguirre | 09/15/09
Yesterday, CBS reported on an increasing credibility gap with mainstream media. While the poll blamed mainstream media for a hoist by their own petards, the Internet is also blamed for the proliferation of misinformation. So, what happens if the Internet is taken away as a weapon of mass persuasion? The likely answer to the question is why we are calling on all who value freedom of speech to fight against a federal shield law intended ... read more »
