BIOGRAPHY

I first started paying attention to politics during the Iranian revolution in 1979 (wow---things sure haven't changed much in 30 years)! I was too young to vote for Reagan in 1980 (by one year) but was a proud military officer by his second term in office, getting my commission in the Air Force in 1985. I resigned my commission in 1990 to start a family and moved from Okinawa, Japan to the Pacific Northwest in 1993.

I am a freelance writer and have written a weekly political column for the Federal Way Mirror for several years. I am active on local politics and worked on Dino Rossi's gubernatorial campaign, organizing the veterans' vote and advising the staff on veterans' issues.

During the past legislative session I worked for WashingtonVotes.org, analyzing and tracking legislation and I am currently doing contract work for the Washington Policy Center.

Adam Smith Town Hall Draws 2500

By Angie Vogt | 08/26/09

When Adams Smith's scheduled town hall moved locations, I admit I thought they were playing games, in hopes of throwing potential opponents of health care off track! It turns out that organizers needed more room to accommodate the massive response. Last night an estimated 2500 people showed up to express their support or opposition to the leftist direction of our federal government.  Supporters of government health care were mostly... read more »

U.S. Marine Vet Takes on Brian Baird

By Angie Vogt | 08/24/09

Rush Limbaugh has been playing the audio from this exchange between U.S. Marine Corps vet and Representative Brian Baird (D). What sets this exchange apart is that our vet, David, starts by explaining to Baird that they both, by virtue of their different service roles, have taken an oath "to protect and defend the Constitution of the U.S. against all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC." [emphasis mine]   It only gets better from... read more »

WA State to Exiting Businesses: "Don't Let the Door Hit You on the Way Out....."

By Angie Vogt | 08/21/09

Maybe our state leaders are just getting used to the pattern. When the Northwest Territorial Mint in Auburn announced that it was moving its $200 million a year business and about half of it's 150 employees out of state, a department of revenue spokesman said, "We're sorry to see them go, but Washington is still a very good place to do business."   A turning point came when the state began requiring the Mint to pay a... read more »

Local car dealers; "Where's the money?"

By Angie Vogt | 08/11/09

This Seattle P-I article reports $12 million dollars worth of "clunker" cars getting the junk yard heap treatment, but local dealers are asking among themselves "where's the money?" I saw an e-mail conversation among several dealers between Bellevue and Puyallup all asking the same question, "has anybody received any money from Uncle Sam?" One dealer lamented that with a half million dollars in accounts... read more »

By Angie Vogt | 08/05/09

Representative Jay Inslee (D) is holding a telephone Townhall Conference tonight on Health Care. Inslee represents the 1st District (Kitsap and Snohomish counties). Here is the post I received: From the local Glenn Beck Meetup Group Leader: Meeting with Jay Inslee at YOUR HOUSE. Take time to ask informed questions and be firm. Blue State Blues: Gregoire's Low Numbers and Unions on Edge

By Angie Vogt | 08/04/09

It's hard to believe the bad luck of the left these days. With a left wing President in the White House, a left wing super majority in the Senate and strong left majority in the House, it would seem that popular opinion would reflect a strong preference for state level left leaning politicians. Unfortunately for Governor Gregoire, our blue state is hardly showing such approval, as a recent poll shows her maintaining a very weak 35% approval... read more »

King County Car Dealer Weighs in On "Clunker Government Program"

By Angie Vogt | 08/03/09

A friend of mine is the wife of a well known car dealer in King County. She gave me a great picture of how this so-called "successful" government program is wreaking havoc in a typical dealership. An excerpt of her e-mail to me follows. I don't want to compromise the identity, so I changed names "to protect the innocent!" This program is a perfect demonstration of how liberals fail everytime they try to "fix"... read more »

With Michael Kerr taking on a broader role for Red County, concentrating on business development, I am taking over the role as editor for the King County site.
