By Jessica Austin | 03/24/09

As many people are aware, Prop 1A is a controversial proposition regarding taxes and spending caps that will be on the ballot this May.  There are quite a few different takes on it, and quite some disagreement amongst the GOP on whether or not it should be supported.  However, lately, it seems as though the No on 1A crowd is growing. Here is an article about Steve Poizner calling on California Republican Party Chairman Ron Nehring to... read more »

By Jessica Austin | 03/23/09

Unfortunately, term limits yet again are putting another outstanding elected official out of office.  This time it is the Honorable Bill Leonard- State Board of Equalization Member.  I recieved an e-mail regarding his decision to endorse former Assemblywoman and his Chief Deputy for the Board, Barbara Alby.  I must say that I have nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for Mr. Leonard.  In fact, I sincerely hope that he continues... read more »

Today I wrote an article regarding the resignation of Anthony Adams as San Bernardino County Republican Party Chairman that was featured on the Flash Report: A New Direction for San Bernardino County Republican PartyBy Jessica AustinTo say that San Bernardino County is a hotbed of controversy for Republicans is perhaps the biggest understatement of the year. However, as of Thursday night, it will no longer be applicable to the San Bernardino... read more »

Prop 1A: The Drama/Publicity/Disagreement Continues...

By Jessica Austin | 03/12/09

Most of our readers are aware now that this blog and the editorial below by Assemblyman Paul Cook were the topic of a rather heated discussion today on the John and Ken show... and that Assemblyman Adams has been the topic of their show for weeks since he voted for the tax increases. Anyways, the Sacramento Bee covered the "story" about Red County San Bernardino today (thanks for the link, BTW)-- and it looks as though the drama continues for... read more »

Response from Senator Dutton on Prop 1 A

By Jessica Austin | 03/12/09

As I am sure many people are aware-- John and Ken are on the air live right now discussing Red County San Bernardino and Assemblyman Cook's editorial below.  Here is the response I just received from the Senator as a response to the current drama surrounding Prop 1A and the GOP:I voted against putting Prop 1A on the ballot for a number of reasons. While the language in Prop. 1A does not specially say it will raise taxes, approving the... read more »

AD 63 Just Got More Interesting...

By Jessica Austin | 03/12/09

Supposedly...and if this post is correct- I am sure the Sun and the PE will be doing a story on it after reading this. Â Redlands City Councilman Pete Aguilar, a Democrat who just won his first election to the Council in December 2007 after first being appointed to fill the vacancy left by Susan Peppler, may be throwing his hat in the ring for the Democratic nomination for AD 63.This could actually be bad news for the Republicans. Â While... read more »

A Conversation With Justice Scalia: The Leader of the Conservative Cause

By Jessica Austin | 03/10/09

Yesterday I had the distinct honor and "privilege" to attend a private event with Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia and the infamous Kenn Starr at Pepperdine University's Law School.  "Since my life revolves around politics, I have attended countless political events and have met many famous Republicans. "However, few things could ever come close to attending something with not only a Supreme Court Justice, but Antonin Scalia at that." It... read more »

All Republican Assemblymembers Supported Tax Increases?

By Jessica Austin | 03/04/09

UPDATE/EDITORS NOTE: I would just like to make it clear, if it wasn't by the title with a question mark, that this post was merely based off of what Assemblyman Adams said. Â Thus, it wasn't meant to imply that this was the truth; rather, questioning it...According to Assemblyman Adams, that's what happened. Â He just happened to be one of the 3 Republicans who was either chosen/volunteered to be the sacrificial lamb to vote for the largest... read more »
