Westminster City Council Candidates Line-up
By Lady Fingers | 08/19/08
Westminster is losing long-time councilman Kermit Marsh, as he decided to run for Judge. This will leave a gap on that City Council, and a seat to be won by one of the challengers. The challengers have lined up now. According the the Secretary of State's letter drawing the ballot will apparently be in the following order: 1. Penny Loomer - long-time City employee, ending her career with the city by retiring a bit earlier... read more »

Joseph Dovinh - an unexpected candidate for the Midway City Sanitary District is also a candidate for the Coast Community College District. His ballot designation for the Sanitary District is "Business Owner"; and his ballot designation for the College District is "Language Consultant". By Lady Fingers | 08/06/08
Yes Folks, those union backed folks over at the Westminster School District are submitting to the voters of the Westminster School District at the General Election on November 4 a bond measure entitled "Westminster School District School Safety, Teacher Recruitment/Fiscal Responsibility Bond". This measure, if passed, would "authorize the school district to issue and sell bonds of up to $130,000,000 in aggregate principal amount to provide... read more »

McCain and Moses
By Lady Fingers | 08/03/08
Was watching FOX AND FRIENDS this morning and saw the ads that McCain has put out about Obama, which use religious references. McCain is calling to the attention (which actually needs to be done sometimes) of America, that Obama in his self-righteous arrogance has, for all practical purposes assumed he is already the President, predestined and wrapped up. While I'm not sure what Moses is thinking about all this from his... read more »

WESTMINSTER CITY CANDIDATES BEGIN TO TAKE OUT THEIR PAPERS
By Lady Fingers | 07/30/08
The faces of the Westminster City Council are usually familiar to its citizens. For years, Margie Rice has been the Mayor, and even ran unopposed last year. For years (about 36 years) Frank Fry has been on the City Council. Kermit Marsh has sat for about 10 years now as a Councilman. Andy Quach is also a familiar but more recent addition. Tri Ta, "brand new" to the council was the latest addition after the passing of Russell Paris. So,... read more »

Minutemen Alive and Well...in Westminster
By Lady Fingers | 06/30/08
Saturday morning at 7:30 a group of about 40 cars and about 60 people showed up at the Home Depot in Westminster. The Minutemen (one of the many splinter groups) have been attempting to point out the irony of illegal immigration be promoted and supported by some factions of the community. While the "day laborers" - most who do not speak English - "hang out" in the parking lot - loitering on the private property of Home Depot in... read more »

Westminster Mayor's Ball - Rose Center Benefit
By Lady Fingers | 06/21/08
We are all so intense on the Red County Blog with who's saying what about who and why that it is almost unnoticed when a room gathers as many notables and elected officials in support of a theater. They all shake hands and are kind and generous with their comments to each other. Who are these people? They are State Senators, Assemblymen, County Supervisors, City Councilmen and of course the Mayor... from "both sides of... read more »

Ann Coulter at UCI TONIGHT
By Lady Fingers | 05/22/08
While I cannot even find Ann Coulter's scheduled appearance at UCI on the UCI Web Home Page, the "event calendar" or even a note about it; I saw on the "Campus Watch" that there is an advertisement showing that she will be at UCI tonight. It is a FREE evening lecture on "Why Liberals are Wrong About Everything". She will be appearing in the UCI Student Center Pacific Ballrooms C&D. There is a parking structure on the... read more »
