EPA admits mistake, City of Cerritos contemplating lawsuit against 3 Mainstream Media Conglomerates

By Matt Kauble | 07/11/09

Found out on July 4th that the City of Cerritos has hired outside legal counsel & an outside public relations firm as it contemplates whether or not to file lawsuits against 3 media outlets that were more egregious in their irresponsibility.  Those 3 being looked at are USA Today (which initiated the irresponsible reporting), NBC News (which had a reporter asking residents and shoppers if they planned to move out or why... read more »

The End of Tolerance

By Matt Kauble | 05/11/09

This editorial originally appeared in the Los Cerritos Community News Since the Sacramento Budget Game editorial, I have received certain communications, mostly in reference to the last tag. And though in a conversation I would have explained my position in clearer terms, I needed to make it more concise so that the letter itself would fit into the space available for such letters. For those upset with that statement please be patient... read more »

More Proof of the Sacramento Budget Game

By Matt Kauble | 04/30/09

2 Articles in today's Sacramento Bee illustrate my point exactly of how the Democrat leadership would rather raise taxes than cut waste that pads their lifestyles. Below are excerpts from and links to those 2 articles. Enjoy. Dems torpedo GOP's try to trash the waste board By Steve Wiegand swiegand@sacbee.com / Faced with a choice of saving between $2 million and $3 million a year, or preserving a potential and lucrative... read more »

Guest article from former Norwalk Mayor Bob Arthur

By Matt Kauble | 04/29/09

Received this letter from former Norwalk (CA) Mayor and current Cerritos College Trustee Bob Arthur.  I have asked him if I could post it to RedCounty and he agreed to it. Enjoy. Letter from Bob Arthur, Last Tuesday we received our sample ballots in the mail for the May 19th Special Statewide Election and I hope you’re as upset as I am about the lack of responsibility of our elected officials in... read more »

The Sacramento Budget Game

By Matt Kauble | 04/22/09

Note: the following article was submitted and published last week in the Los Cerritos Community News.  I have added back for clarity purposes portions that were ommitted for space reasons. In February, the Sacramento Folks hatched a budget deal that included 6 propositions on the May ballot that they said would solve the budget gap of $32 Billion. Except they came back in March, saying that the budget gap is still $8 Billion shy of... read more »

A Redistricting thought exercise

By Matt Kauble | 03/18/09

The following is a thought exercise. I sometimes do these exercises of the mind to see what the impact of changing numbers around would be.  This thought exercise started several years ago, after I noticed that it became more easily gerrymandered and less representative of the general population, after the state of Massachusetts reduced the number of seats in its state legislature on the excuse of saving money.  Their costs have since... read more »

How do we stop this downward spiral of our economy?

By Matt Kauble | 03/04/09

As we enter a more severe recession in both California and the rest of the nation, one thing has become crystal clear.  In General, the politicians in Sacramento and Washington, D.C. are not interested in solving the problems besetting our nation, but in the words of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel: "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things you think you could not do... read more »

Budget Deal Reports and Rumors: What I learned from the CRP Convention

By Matt Kauble | 02/23/09

This past weekend as most of my fellow contributors know, the California Republican Party held its winter/spring convention at the Hyatt in Sacramento just across the street from the state capitol.  It is always a good place to network and exchange ideas and information.  This past weekend I had four very interesting conversations, one on Friday with Assemblyman Anthony Adams, two on Saturday in the evening hours, and one on Sunday morning,... read more »

Israel Will Be a Heavy Weight to Obama's Administration

By Matt Kauble | 12/28/08

The recent attacks of Israel on the Hamas controlled Gaza strip will probably end well before Obama is sworn into office.  But future attacks by Hamas, Hezbollah and Fatah will probably draw Israel into more conflicts which will end the lives of even more Palestinians and make the Middle East Obama's number one foreign policy area of focus over at least the next four years, if not beyond. Thing is Obama needs to continue the U.S. policy of... read more »
