Lt. Governor Anthony Brown's Selective Memory

By Mark Newgent | 08/04/09

The folks at Maryland Politics Watch recently talked with Lt. Governor Anthony Brown to talk policy and politics. Mixed in among the banal progressive pablum we get this from Brown Ehrlich had no interest in governing at all and when he left there was no evidence of his presence in state government.  Actually there was a lot of evidence, chiefly a budget surplus, which Brown and his boss quickly spent. One thing Brown left out or... read more »

Martin O'Malley's Cap and Trade

By Mark Newgent | 07/17/09

The Waxman-Markey cap and trade will hopefully die in the Senate. However, Marylander’s must ask, what about governor Martin O’Malley’s own version of Waxman-Markey, the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Act?  The law tasks the Maryland Department of the Environment to devise a plan (cap and trade) to reduce GHG emissions 25% from 2006 levels by 2020 and 90% from 2006 levels by 2050. The state’s... read more »

I wonder if the Sun editorial writers will now say Al Gore, who likened his “fight” against global warming to Churchill rousing the British people against the Hitler, now automatically loses the argument?  Note the... read more »

Anatomy of Kratovil's Cap and Trade Sellout

By Mark Newgent | 07/07/09

Watch the Youtube clip below, note that there is no mention of climate change or global warming in this Environmental Defense Fund’s video thank you to Frank Kratovil for voting aye on Waxman-Markey.  Perhaps that is because the bill was never about the earth’s climate as the latest satellite data reveals the planet’s continuing cooling trend over the last decade (more than .74 degrees Fahrenheit since Al Gore... read more »

Liberal charges of conservative hypocrisy hide the failure of liberal prinicples

By Mark Newgent | 07/07/09

Liberal caterwauling about Mark Sanford’s hypocrisy and the concomitant criticism of conservative and “Republican” values has been rather predictable.  However, the shrieking harpies of the left don’t realize the Sherman tank sized hole in their argument.   The failure of conservatives to live up to their values isn’t a failure of those values, but rather another data point in the conservative... read more »
