The news of the November 03, 2009 elections did contain some very welcome and happy outcomes for conservative Americans. Probably the most joyous was the stunned silence of the Obama ‘MOUTH’ machine. Not having to watch him take over another microphone in front of a TV camera puffing his head up into the skies and telling us how great he and his programs are was indeed a treat.

But lest we get too bloated out of proportion ourselves, we have to look at ALL of it; and there was some definitely down news that had to be taken with the up. The most important thing that good loyal and patriotic Americans needed to see happen in order to restore our country back to its basic family values fundamentals is the DECREASE in the numbers of liberal Democrats in both of our Congressional houses.

Sadly, that fortuity didn’t come to pass during yesterday’s balloting. The two races to replace members of the House of Representatives; one a Republican in New York in a district where conservatism was common and the other in liberal Democratic San Francisco were won by two liberal Democrats. So the net effect is to increase the libs majority one more vote in the House.

That, to me, surely puts a major dent in my glee factor. 

But we should not let that one vote weaken the overall feeling of good will regarding the capture of the highest office in two states, one of long-term Democrat control and the other a normally Republican state except in most recent years when the GOP abandoned its usual governing principles and lost the right to lead. Those two wins do lift spirits and hopes for the future and cast a dull light on the performance of the other party; particularly its leader who invested much of his time personally visiting the two states campaigning in support of the Democrat candidate.

My greatest personal disappointment was in the defeat of the popular conservative in the NY-23 district, losing to a long time liberal who is a strong supporter of all of Obama’s county-killing plans and legislation. The voters of that particular district have a background of supporting conservatives; their continued non-support of such values is puzzling. Have they consumed too much of the Obama Kool-Aid? We may never know.

But I hope that this election day was a wake-up call to both parties. The liberal Democrats need to know that the anti-American sentiment often spouted by their members as well as the “tear the country down” attitude and proposed un-American legislative attempts is not going to be welcomed by the majority of TRUE Americans. The Conservatives, on the other hand, need to move their agenda forward and show how this country has thrived and succeeded with such principles for 233 years, and not let the big-government, big-taxers take control.

That star-spangled banner DOES yet wave o’er the land of the free and the home of the brave. Bet on it.
