Send a Letter to Pres. Obama; Join the Cause
By Jerry McConnell | 06/26/09 | 06:45 AM EDT | 0 Comments
Over the past few weeks I have seen circulating online two very effective looking letters that supposedly have been sent to our President Obama in the White House in Washington, DC. These letters were written by a retired executive of the giant corporation, Proctor and Gamble; and a fourth grade school teacher from Missouri.
The letter written by the P&G official has been verified as authentic by Snopes, Urban Legends; however, the fourth grade teacher’s communication to the president has yet to gather any attention or notice from Snopes, which neither confirms nor denies its validity.
So in one of my deep thought moods it came to me that perhaps more people should be writing to the President and expressing their opinions and comments on his leadership to date. However, once the avalanche got started, the mailbox at said White House would most likely be shut down due to the impossibility of handling an enormously heavy barrage.
With that thought in mind, I immediately sat down and made my comments known to our President in the hopes that others would follow suit, and put their thoughts on paper, or at least in cyberspace.
So, dear readers, I have also decided to make my email to the President available to you even before it gets circulated across the wide expanse of the Internet boundaries.
President Obama:
Sir, I noticed the following remarks online just today, June 24, 2009 on Conservative News Service:
"White House (CNSNews.com) -President Barack Obama said it is “not logical” to think that a government-run health care program competing with private health insurers would eventually drive the private firms out of business…"
You, Mr. President, may consider it "not logical" for normal United States citizens to think that way; but I have to be honest with you, you can not be trusted to tell us the truth in most matters. I won't even give any examples because there are too many instances, but you have been lying to us since while on the campaign trail for the presidency. Just about everything you promised or said you would change has either been a lie or a deliberate omission of carrying out such promises.
Most of the things that you have changed, we the people consider to be damaging to our country. We do not want the failures of socialism, which have never worked anywhere in the world where it has been tried; governance that rewards people for not working and punishes those who have been successful by taking what they have honestly earned through hard work and perseverance and distributing it to those who refuse to better themselves.
We don't want the thuggery of labor union bosses to cripple not only our bodies with their retribution for out opposition but also our minds. We don’t want the malfeasance of units such as ACORN ruining the minds of our young people and we don’t like the fact that members of your inner circle and cabinet offices have not been of trustworthy and honest character. Don't destroy our republic; it has worked brilliantly for more than 230 years, making this young country the leader of the world.
That is why a lot of, and my guess is that it is voluminous, Americans doubt your word. You do not seem content to be our highest, elected by the people official; you seem to want to place our entire country in the grips of the most corrupt organization ever conceived, the United Nations. If you aspire to be the leader of that inept, inefficient, except at embezzlement of other nations' money, then please apply for it with them; don't try to take America down with you.
Don't be surprised when in 2012, the now dormant and relatively quiet voices of America, rise up and relegate you to the Jimmy Carter one term status. You are seriously damaging the entire structure of this country and the rebellion will take place at the ballot box unless drastic changes in your unstated goals occur before.
I typed my name and address and email address at the bottom.
During the Bush years at the White House emails could be simply sent to “comments@whitehouse.gov” and an acknowledgement would come within a few minutes if not sooner. That simplicity has changed with the new and promised transparency (their definition of that word is not the same as mine) so now you must go to their website: http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/
Once there you will have to fill out a form giving your identification information and then send your message. Under the Bush method you would automatically have a file copy of your message in the “Sent” folder; now you must copy the message before sending it, or you will not have a file copy for yourself.
So why not get into the act and send a message to the ‘messiah’; have no fear, you will not get a reply, but they just might sample some of the emails received for a sense of what the people are thinking and if they get an overly large amount of critical ones, the right changes may then come about.
The tooth fairy may also leave a gold bank note under your pillow.
