SD34 Watch: More On Sue Perez
By Matthew Cunningham | 11/05/09 | 06:14 PM EDT | 4 Comments
I asked veteran consultant Dave Gilliard, who is running Sue Perez's run against Democratic Sen. Lou Correa, for more information on his client:
"Sue Perez has 12 years of broadcast experience as host of a highly popular syndicated talk show, “Our Town”, watched by millions of viewers on the TBN network. She holds a Doctorate of Ministry Degree, as well as an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice. She brings to the Senate campaign a unique set of skills in broadcasting and business administration. Sue and her husband Ed Perez live in Anaheim, where Ed runs a very successful local development and consulting firm. Sue and Ed have been married for 30 years and have two children, both married.
Initial Co-Chairs for Sue’s State Senate campaign will be State Senator Mimi Walters and Orange County Supervisor Janet Nguyen."
This will be an interesting race to watch. One thing it will illustrate is that, contrary to liberal mythology, the GOP is not the party of big business: big business is the party of big business. In other words, the OC corporate community will ride to Correa's aid if his re-election chances look precarious. Why, you ask, would the big business community help re-elect a left-of-center Democrat who broke his promise and cast the deciding vote for the largest tax increase in California history?
The answer is simple and utterly practical: because Correa is a member of majority party, and he will carry their legislation. As such, a blind eye will be turned to even major transgressions like voting for a tax increase that has only served to injure California's economy.

...over at his blog, Lou Correa Juice.
Got to hand it to Correa. He endorsed crazy Art for City Council, and Art has been his loyal lap-dog ever since. Art's boot-licking is cringe-inducing.

|Art is blocking me from commenting, fearless tribune of the people that he is. He's even going after my wife! He's a pipsqueak.

|Sue Perez... Ed Perez. I wonder if this is the same Ed Perez who ran against former Congressman Esteban Torres in '96 and '98?
- reply
|I'm pretty sure it is.
