Bad Process in Oceanside, Good Results

While I've argued in this blog that it is bad for the Democratic process for Oceanside to appoint a Treasurer to a three year term (the sitting Treasurer passed away shortly) instead of appointing an interim Treasurer and waiting until the probable November 09 election, the pick of investor Gary Felien was in fact just the sort of fellow I would have voted for if he were up for election. So, in the end, the results were good, the process still bad.
I saw that the ongoing council division of Kern-Feller-Chavez v. Sanchez-Wood was again expressed in the vote. It is an open conversation now in north county that Wood, who tends to side with Oceanside's public employee unions, is seriously considering a run against Supervisor Bill Horn, who is viewed as vulnerable. Other names being mentioned as possible challangers to Horn are State Senator Mark Wyland, Assemblyman Martin Garrick, Oceanside Councilman Rocky Chavez, and a couple of self funding businessmen.
