Marti's Spin to the Editor

It looks like Thor skipped by Marti's letter to the editor in the UT this morning so here it is.
Marti's biggest problem is that she is on the record supporting raising taxes, thinks Prop. 13 has 'run its course', and has absolutely said she would like to impose another trash collection tax (remember, we already pay for our trash pick-up once in our property taxes). Of course, once she stuck her finger to the wind in D7 and found out a vast majority of the voters do not agree with her on any of those things, she took a different tack.
Anyway, here is her spin regarding the UT's endorsement of April Boling last week:
Regarding "Reform votes/Thalheimer, Gloria, Boling for City Council" (Editorial, Oct. 9):
As a journalist for 30 years, I respect the Union-Tribune's news organization. Regrettably, as a candidate for the San Diego City Council's District 7, your editorial position distorts my statements and does not meet the standards of fair or balanced. I do not support raising taxes. I do not oppose Proposition 13. I would not impose a trash collection tax. Each of those references made in your endorsement of April Boling comes directly from April's "cut and paste" job on fuller statements I made. No candidate has exposed more waste, fraud and abuse of taxpayer dollars than me.

This is a prime example of someone who has spent way too much time believing their own public relations.

Remember when the Obama supporters were defending Rev. Wright by saying, 'watch the WHOLE sermon - what you see is out of context!'. The problem is, a lot of us ended up watching the whole sermon, and found the sermon in its entirety much scarier than the sound bytes on the news.
The same thing applies here, Marti. The unedited version is much worse.

where was her majesty marti emerald when the fiscal crisis or the ethics crisis was breaking out at city hall? i watched her show and she was dealing with silly little things. the truth is she did nothing. nothing. why? because she's an insider who didnt want to step on anyones toes. she was part of the in-crowd. thats not real investigative journalism marti, that's betraying our trust.
So let me get this straight: either Emerald is telling the truth and everyone else isn't, or Hedgecock, Boling, and the Union Trib are not telling the truth and Emerald is.
I have kids. Usually its the one person whose story doesnt add up that isnt telling the truth.
Is she just now starting to realize that no one in the 7th Council Distrct wants their taxes raised?

Annienonymous, people tend to get angry and respond emotionally when someone tells lies...And your throwing out the new "race card" of christianity is classic liberalism, did you learn this from the Saul Alinsky school for coimmunity activism...or have you been hanging around to many Obamaites.
So much of this commentary is just a regurgitation of the primary. Nothing new or enlightening here. No discussion of issues, just nasty commentary about someone's personal appearance, etc. Again, you folks must be hurting and I do feel sorry for you. All this anger and bilious diatribes are indications of fear, plain and simple.

I got a piece of mail in the last election that said howard jarvis taxpayer group said marti was wavering on proposition 13. How can she say now she supports it now isnt there a rule that says you cant just go back and forth at the union tribune paper.
well its become painfully obvious that I work for the labor unions so I may as well come clean.
