Fox News is officially reporting Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is Senator John McCain's choice for Vice President.
CATEGORY:
Making of the President

I had to laugh this morning, watching the networks and talking heads jumping all over themselves trying to determine the choice, right down to reports of private planes between Alaska and Dayton, Ohio fueling the fire. One commentator said, "The McCain campaign has been masterful in creating a huge buzz about the pick." Really, the McCain campaign did that? It looks to me like all McCain did was successfully keep the selection under wraps. The media created the buzz!
Of all the extrodinary things I "did not" do for this party. I can add a prediction of Sarah Palin a year ago last July to that list. And I have emails to prove it.
Man am I psyched.
Here are some reasons why I cited Palin in an email to my friend July 10, 2007!
She succeeded in a democrat blowout, while running against the establishment.
The reason why people are leaving the party is because there isn't anybody new, or inspiring or taking the party in a new direction. This woman is a political bulldozer and has no qualms about it.
She took on the alaskan gop establishment and won, and is now at 90% approval. This woman has been and is very successful at being govenor it while remaining true to conservative principles unlike CA's gov.
She is the anti-Hiliary, family values and all, but her toughness comes from being in the alaskan wilderness, hence some environmental cridentials. Furthermore she is also more physically attractive than Hiliary. She is also a proven no nonsense conservative with reformist cridentials.
-She beat an unpopular incumbant (Murkowski) who was a weaker candidate and hence had lesser of a chance of beating the democrat, with 51% of the vote in a 3 man race for the GOP primary.
Re: drilling in Alaska. Have you seen gas prices. All this will do is lower them mabye by just a few pennies, but thats $20 a month, just enough for a nice dinner or a movie for most people. That is real and affects all americans every day. It will play well. furthermore peole live in Alaska for a reason, and one of those is nature. I sincerely doubt that she wants to turn Fairbanks into LA.
If she doesn't run, then she should be given the attention of being a candidate for the vp ticket as a profile booster, so if hilliary does win, then we have somebody on the bench in 2012 who has been capaigning accross the country and deveolping contacts to do so.
I know you all must be missing my outside the box thinking and witty repote at social events. But once again I did the extrodinary. Dammit I'm taking credit for this one.
you predicted her, you didn't select her. ego check.
Anyone watching her speak...she is awesome! She is gonna kick Biden's fake teeth right out of his mouth!
No I believe that John McCain selected her with the help of his top advisors. I predicted that she should be put on the national stage 6 months prior to Iowa. Yeah I'm letting my ego get the best of me. So what. I did something really really cool.
Look I respect the fact that many in local republican politics regret the fact that Romney was not chosen. But I sincerely hope that those individuals will put those feelings aside for the goal of seeing democrats with their jaws dropped in a state of depression realizing that their golden boy wasn't up for the job.
Being part of Horton 04. Man there is nothing sweeter than doing the unexpected, like winning an election you are not supposed to. It is a moment that you never forget and you savor it like honey. (Like the one I'm feeling right now.) For all those working for McCann, Boeling and Goldsmith. This is what awaits you when you win and do the unexpected. The ego to boost is really cool too!!!!
Ha, Ha, Ha, You guuuuys. What a joke. McCan't just sealed his fate. Senility has kicked in for sure. How obovious and desperate Johnny so needs the female vote. Every woman should be offended by his pandering.
Chris,
If I remember, you also predicted that Mike Huckabee would be the nominee. He won 1 freaking state. Good call.
Correction
I predicted that Huckabee would be a major factor not to be discounted, in May of 2007 at a time when he was viewed as an "also ran" and nobody took him seriously. I believe that he exceeded everybodys expectations. A pity the establishment went after him as well. People like Mike. People wish to be like Mike. At least when it comes to his abilty to loose weight.
Just watched her speech in Ohio. Wow! The rural homespun start worried me but then the policy portion: Wow! As woman across America get to know Sara, I suspect they are going to have tears in their eyes from pride and joy. She is eloquent, compelling, and moving. She connects on so many levels with all people about their inspirations for our country and the purpose of government. She is going to bring huge numbers of woman to support the McCain-Palin ticket.
The contrast to Hillary is amazing. Had Hillary not been so crassly political and arrogant she might have received her party's nomination. Instead, Sara talks and did as Councilmember, Mayor and Governor what all politicians should do: work to make government more productive for all people without taking more from our income.
She likely will consume the media buzz, drowning out Barack in People Magazine, as everyone rushes to learn more about her. She's got a great story personally and politically. I'm interest to hear how woman connect with her: the mother, the environmentalist, and the executive. She can speak with depth in policy better than Barack, because she has accomplishments. She potentially could eviscerate Biden during her debate simply with her personality, verbal efficiency and depth of accomplishments. Add in Biden's blabbermouth and history of failed foreign policies (opposed the first Gulf War, and tried to impose religious segregation on Iraq).
Could California be in play? Consider: (a) PPIC polls already show the race narrowing from 15% to 9%, and (b) 19.3 percent of California's registered voters are decline to state - not clear how many of those are female but overall 51% of registered voters are female. If Sara's addition to the ticket can sway DTS woman, which I think it can, then quite possibly yes California is in play.
Three days ago, I handed my wife a folded piece of paper. I told her it contained the name of the individual I predicted would be selected as the running mate for John McCain.
It was Sarah Palin.
I don't know if McCain-Palin can beat Obama-Biden, but it will be fun to watch. Sure, she's relatively unknown. But is she any more "unknown" than Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton were when they became presidential nominees?
I think she brings a breathe of fresh air to the party. The biggest naysayers are the tired old men who are ticked because they weren't named to the ticket.
By the way, I'm a 63-year-old male who has not yet decided who he will vote for in November.
See, Chris, others like Cobracat picked her too, but they're not fawning all over themselves about it and saying, "See, see how cool I am." Get a grip. And, I am not disappointed by Romney, at all. He has no conservative credentials, not until he decided he needed to be. Palin does.
Please
If you are going to attack me. I would politely ask you to use your real name. In the spirt of fairness, of course. Perhaps we know each other.
My innitial posting I will admit I was excited. And I am shocked to hear you acuse me a Republican of having an ego. Shocked I say!Com'on, the personality trait of republicans dictate we have egos. If I didn't have an ego I'd be an unmotivated girly man democrat. So there HA!
I am a little disapointed though that you did not see in that posting that issues relevant one year ago are still relevant today energy, environment, corruption. Basically she is a "not Bush" conservative. This makes it harder for the Democrat nominee to paint the Bush brush on her. I believed that Palin would have been a good counterweight to Hiliary back in July 2007. That still rings true against Obama. As well as (I made Alito's wife cry) Joe Biden. I'll put money on her against Biden any day in a debate.
My prediction, no time frame involved, but note it for posterity:
Sarah Palin will be the first female President of the United States. Yes, even from Alaska.
What makes all of this even more interesting is that her Lt. Gov in Alaska, Sean Parnell, is in a dead-locked primary for Congress.
Alaska could very well send boh of its "reform & change" leaders to Washington with McCain.
1. I predict that Joe Biden will plagiarize AGAIN.
2. A Republican will be the first female president.
3. A Republican will be the first black president.
4. If Obama loses Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton will run each other over to hold a press conference accusing Americans of being racists.
In case you missed it, Jessica Austin at RC San Bern. called it last night, before Drudge, the networks, etc....

Come 11/5 and all you guys are poppin' the morning after pill I'll roll these blogs out so we can all get a good laugh.
Sarah Palin is an excellent choice for vice president. Her record
speaks for itself. Criticism will be directed to her by advocates
of the leftist agenda geared towards a government controlled
socialist approach to everything that is perceived to be a problem
for them. Freedom of choice is what matters the most, and Palin
has demonstrated the ability to advocate doing the right things
the right way during her entire political career that dates back
to 1992. She understands that the American people want to preserve
the freedoms that were instituted in the U.S. Constitution. In
addition, she understands that lower tax rates will generate more
revenue and that the war we find outselves in today will require
smart leadership to continue its successful prosecution. Our
enemies are convinced that we are weak, but Governor Palin knows
that they're wrong, and she'll do what is right to preserve our
independence. To those of you who think she's too inexperienced
to vote for, please think again. If you consider the alternative
in terms of your choice in November, the only logical conclusion
to be reached is casting a ballot with a vote for McCain/Palin.
Has there been one female comment on this subject yet? Or is it the typical old white McCan't look alikes. I would love to hear what women think about her views on abortion. What about the infant child with down syndrom. I question Johnny's moral judgment to even ask her to take on such responsibilty. What happened to family values? Oh yeah, I forgot, Republicans haven't lived up to their party ideals in years.
Any time a woman makes good, I am the first to cheer. As a woman, I consider myself lucky. These days, we women can have it all: education; career; and now selection to be in the 2nd highest office in the land. This access does come with one major caveat - we can NOT have them all at the SAME TIME. I know. I'm living proof. I have a very successful career and balancing it with my beautiful, special son's needs is sometimes near impossible - so I took a step back to do God's work.
The most treasured honor that women have bestowed upon us is that of MOTHERHOOD. Many women are not so lucky. God granted us this awesome privilege and it is one we must place second to NOTHING.
As a special needs mom myself, I cannot for the life of me understand how she can be a proper mother to her Downes infant, to say nothing of the rest of her very young children. Running for and serving as VP requires an extraordinary amount of time. What is this saying about traditional family values? How can Senator McCain even ask her to confuse this priority and how can she agree to it? We have many other phenominal choices right now.
Not that she isn't great - she IS! But that's not the point. Children, especially God's special needs angels deserve a mother who can BE THERE for them. She is a young woman and would be a FANTASTIC choice in 2016.
Barry Jantz, for posterity I predict that Sarah Palin will not even be the Republican nominee for Vice President come Election Day. She might not even be the nominee at the end of the Republican Convention. On the positive side, if her old political party has their way, she might be the first President of the nation known as Alaska.
Firecliff, I'm female and happy to comment on "family values" Sarah. If I could ask her one question right now, it would be something like, "how is that abstinence only sex education working out for your family now?" I can't believe that she didn't have "the talk" with her own daughter. Didn't she remember what it was like to be a teenager? It is completely unrealistic that all teens will be abstinent. Now they're planning on compounding this girl's problems by making her marry that boy. Have any of you seen his Myspace page?
I read that she doesn't even take care of her downs-syndrome baby, someone else does. She just carted the baby out to show "America" what a great mother she is. I find her politics nauseating, she wears fur and she kills animals and she let's people shoot at wolves from helicopters. She could have stopped that practice. I find her repulsive.
A few days ago I didn't even know who she was, now, god help us, she could end up being our president.
Btw, I believe McPain thought he would be luring over the "alienated" Hillary Supporters by choosing this psycho beauty queen. He was dead wrong. Sarah is definitely no substitute.
And, what Horatio Alger said too. I hope you're correct Horatio.
Fair enough, but as Jeanne Dixon used to "say." If I'm wrong, it will be forgotten. If I'm right, no one will forget! ;-)

Alaska Party Official Says Palin Was Not a Member
By The New York Times
The chairwoman of an Alaskan political party that advocates a vote on the state’s secession from the union said Tuesday that she had been mistaken when she said Gov. Sarah Palin was a member of the group.
A front-page story in The New York Times on Tuesday and articles in other news media reported that Ms. Palin was a member of the Alaska Independence Party for two years in the 1990’s.
The information in the Times article was based on a statement issued Monday night by Lynette Clark, the party’s chairwoman, who said that Ms. Palin joined the party in 1994 and in 1996 changed her registration to Republican.
On Tuesday night, Ms. Clark said that her initial statement was incorrect and had been based on erroneous information provided by another member of the party whom she declined to identify. The McCain campaign also disputed the Times report, saying that Ms. Palin had been registered consistently as a Republican.
After checking the party’s archives, Ms. Clark said that she could find no documentation that Governor Palin had been a member of the party. She said Ms. Palin attended the party’s 1994 and 2006 conventions and provided a video-taped address as governor to the 2008 convention.
Ms. Clark said that Ms. Palin’s husband, Todd, was a former member of the party.
If the left is going to attack Govenor Palins aledged association with a group that seeks independence from the United States. One must consider who Omaba associates himself with.
Has Obama accepted funds from Hollywood types and others who publicly stated that they'd leave the country and denounce their citizenship if Bush was elected and re-elected. Terry Gilliam of Monty Python fame was one such individual who actually did that. I'm sure there is more. I wonder if any of those x-patriots attended fundraisers for Obama.
Ooooo, hollywood types. Scary!
Is this really the right woman for the job? https://secure.defenders.org/site/SPageServer?pagename=c406_090308palinwolf
