Loyalty rarely found in Assembly Office

From The Garrick Gazette:
Loyalty rarely found in Assembly Office
It's a rare day when you can truly count on someone in politics. Trust is traded high and sold low. Confidences are dealt guardedly and lingering cynicism is often its bedmate. Politicking is steeped in tradition: back rooms and cigar smoke scenes have yet to fade from the screen. As any observer of the political world knows, it is better to be cautious in a world that only portends to have the interest of the public good at heart.
So we find it highly valued when someone comes along and shatters deep seated and long held beliefs about political relationships. Someone that can restore belief in our system: if only momentarily.
Friday marked the last day for Matthew Dobler a Field Representative for Assemblyman Martin Garrick (R-Carlsbad). He leaves to join the Oregon arm of the Republican nominee's Presidential bid. Senator John McCain's campaign machine will find him a great asset in the fight for the White House.
Matthew Dobler is held in high regard in the orgy that is San Diego Republican politics. And, he bears the mark of a true campaigner: a list of nicknames. Dobler (as fellow campaigners and legislative staffers have come to call him) cut his teeth on the Kevin Faulconer for City Council race and has never looked back. His impressive resume includes field work on legislative races; including that of his current boss, Assemblyman Garrick.
For all appearances, this fresh faced youngster is like any normal college aged student (in fact he just celebrated his 21st birthday.) However, unlike many of his colleagues he is highly regarded by the best in his field: elected officials, consultants, party hacks and grassroots volunteers alike.
Matthew brings his experience and personality to the effort in Oregon: a crucial swing state. In a state that has not voted for a Republican presidential candidate since 1984, the Oregon team is going to have to hit the ground running to gain traction in today's political environment. According to polls taken from the last Presidential general election (2004), 52% of the state is registered Democrat to 47% registered Republican. In a narrow victory Kerry defeated Bush in 2004 by 4%.Presumptive Republican nominee, John McCain plans to stake his claim. Who better for the role than Matthew Dobler? Not only will his San Diego allies certainly feel the loss in this crucial election cycle, but the District Office of Assemblyman Martin Garrick will not be the same without his dedication to the constituents and their interests in this great Republic.

Good man, good campaigner. Oregon is lucky to have him.
Congrats to Dobler, what a great pickup for Oregon. He is the man for the job.
Damn Oregon... Go turn it red and then come back.
Dobler has been and still is an important part of our Coronado family. The McCain campaign is very smart to hire him. He will always have a place with us should he ever make it back here. JJ
