DeMaio wary of City Hall "monument"
Incoming San Diego City Councilman Carl DeMaio is not a fan of the proposed overhaul of the downtown San Diego City Hall complex.
DeMaio, who will take office in December after walking away with the District 5 seat in the June primary, said Friday he is "completely opposed" to moving forward with what city officials hope will be a money-saving makeover of the 1960s-era complex.
DeMaio says it's not the right time. "We do not have our community infrastructure funding and projects on track. Until we fix that, we ought not to be building any monuments downtown," he said.
"A new City Hall would send just the worst message to the community of a lack of understanding of community priorities."

The downtown thought they knew what they were getting with Carl - another Falconer. Not quite. LOL. Demaio is going to tear into the corporate waste down there, just wait.
