Use Teacher Union's Money to Call Legislators!

From the Capitol Resource Institute:
For months now, the California Teachers Association (CTA) and other self serving, money-wasting unions have been pounding lawmakers with emails, phone calls, faxes, and office visits to protest "budget cuts" for schools and social services. California's state budget is now billions of dollars out of balance and liberal lawmakers want to raise taxes by $11 billion in order to cover their irresponsible spending. But the CTA wants to ensure that their slice of the pie (now one-third of the total state budget) isn't touched by necessary budget cuts.
To bully lawmakers to raise taxes, instead of cutting spending, tomorrow the CTA is promoting a "community call-in" day to Sacramento lawmakers.
The CTA is instructing its members to use a CTA-sponsored toll-free number to call lawmakers and urge them to raise taxes on Californians in order to "solve" the budget crisis. 888-268-4334
According to a CTA press release, the union is "asking community groups to all call in on this day so that we can show the power of our communities. Get out this number to your members, families and neighbors so that we can get a flood of calls into the Legislature!"
Well, CRI encourages you to do the same-use the CTA's toll-free number (and their money) to contact your legislators and urge them to NOT raise taxes on California families. 888-268-4334
Remember that the CTA is the union that actively supports SB 1322, the bill that will allow Communists to teach in our schools, and AB 2943, the ban on spanking. The CTA also opposes legislation that will protect innocent school children from homosexual indoctrination.
When you use the CTA number, you will be greeted by a propaganda message regarding budget cuts. Simply stay on the line until you are prompted to enter your ZIP code. You will then be directed to your local senator or assembly member.
But instead of parroting the CTA's propaganda, here are some talking points to use:
· California has the 5th highest tax burden in the country.
· The problem is not the amount of money going to Sacramento, but wasteful, irresponsible spending by politicians.
· Liberal lawmakers want to raise our taxes by over $11 billion.
· Using the excuse that schools will suffer if spending is cut is a lie-the real problem is wasteful spending.
· Tell your legislators that you DO NOT want new taxes.
· Lawmakers must cut wasteful government spending NOW.

Rather than raising taxes, try increasing revenue. Here is an idea. Sell add space on school buses. It is hard to miss those yellow behemoths on the road. Just a thought.
nice
Like I said in my unsuccessful run for State Assembly (AD 73), we need fundamental budgeting and education reform in California. See here,

The GOP's current proposals are a good start, but we need to curtail ballot box budgeting, phase out preprogrammed spending priorities, and introduce more competition into education.
