San Diego -- This morning, Steve Francis, candidate for Mayor of San Diego, offered the following statement:
"I have just called Mayor Sanders to congratulate him on his victory. I want to thank my campaign team and the countless volunteers and supporters who worked tirelessly for change at City Hall. I particularly want to thank my wife Gayle and my entire family for their hard work and support throughout the campaign.
I believe that we successfully drew attention to serious issues, and I hope that the dialogue on these issues will continue. I am optimistic and confident that the Mayor and the new City Council will begin to address the challenges that still face our City. I pledge to continue my efforts to help unite San Diego and make our community a better place to live."

Francis is a gentleman and is genuine in his humble praise and congrats, certainly beat the "finger". I trust politics will continue in view of the former attitude.

Francis: "I pledge to continue my efforts to help unite San Diego . . ." I think there's a typo in there. Steve's an honest guy, I'm sure he meant "untie" rather than "unite."
Seriously, what has he done on the uniting front?
