PRESS RELEASE: 5/27 from Sheriff Kolender: an Endorsement for Thalheimer: " Phil Thalheimer is the kind of honest voice we need to restore openess and acountability,as well as set the right priorities, in City Hall. When the chips were down,Phil stood up and helped pass Jessica's Law, one of the nation's toughest laws against sexual predators."
PRESS RELEASE: 5/28 from La Jolla Light: an Endorsement for Thalheimer: " Phil Thalheimer possesses the most attractive mix of business acumen and city government experience. He is a former city insider who now, after years of running his own business, has the perspective of an outsider. An ardent supporter of managed competition, Thalheimer is also appreciative and knowledgeable about the role of city workers. Sacrifices will certainly be asked of city workers in the coming years. Thalheimer will be tough enough
to ask forthose sacrifices and fair enough notto askmore than is needed. On the Council he will be an asset as the Mayor's reform program continues."
Contact: Breanna Kingsbury. 619-887-9455 Thalheimer for City Council
Wow I just finished reading Mr. Merrifield’s direct attack and I am not sure if he supports the arts or not. Seems to me that Mr. Thalheimer really hit a nerve, and I think it will be Councilmember Thalheimer very soon. Nice try Mr. Merrifield, way too little and way to late.
From East to West,
Be careful. Hubris is often lethal.
Clearly, Thalheimer struck a nerve. I get the feeling MM thought he could just write checks and coast into city hall. He's finding out it's not that easy.
MM if you really want the job be a gentleman and endorse Phil on Wednesday. After that get involved in CD1 and the Republican party, learn about city govt, and you can run in eight years.
Good luck, Phil! After eight years of Scott Peters you'll be a refreshing change.
"The real reformer in District 1 is Marshall Merrifield, a veteran businessman who understands municipal finance..."
Fellow Republicans, please vote for the gentleman reformer in this race. San Diego needs the heft of Marshall's credentials and experience in finance to carry us out of this fiscal quagmire.
It takes a gentleman to know one, and anyone who knows Marshall Merrifield confirms this. He has conducted this campaign with dignity and he has presented his creditials and expertise on the core issues of this District. His deportment in private as well as public has been a true breath of fresh air to those of us familiar with the same old players in this city. Rarely does one have the opportunity to improve both the character and the professionalism of our public administrators as we in District 1. Marshall Merrifield will do us all proud on the City Council.
Im not sure we need another 'go along get along' establishment gentleman in office. I think we need some officials who will actually cry foul, for instance, when we spend hundreds of thousands of dollars paying for art or corp. welfare.
What is all this talk all the time about Marshall Merrifield being a gentleman? Where are we, Victorian England, where our betters need to take care of us poor sniffling urchins?
I dont give a flying fart who the gentleman in the race is -- I want to know who will move the ball down the field for conservatives. AND THAT DOES NOT MEAN TAKING CARE OF THE ARTS COMMUNITY WITH MY TAX DOLLARS.
From the Union Tribune's editorial today: "In District 1, which
encompasses La Jolla and other coastal communities to the north..."
Duh?Now I wonder just what communities the U-T has re-districted into District One? Encinitas or Carlsbad perhaps? Will the San Diego Councilman from Oceanside please Stand Up!
The Torreys,UTC,Carmel Valley and Rancho Penasquitos better fall out
on Tuesday for someone who at least knows where the GOP voters live.
That laughter you're hearing on the horizon is the staff of all the real journalistic editorial boards in the City. Pathetic, just pathetic.
Phil Thalheimer is the proven conservative in this D1 race: he's
pro-business, anti-regulatory,pro-jobs and pro-community.
The San Diego North Chamber of Commerce (SDNCC) is one of the largest business organizations in this County. It's 1000+ members
live and conduct business from San Pasqual Valley in the North, down the I-15 Corridor thru Mira Mesa to Sorrento Valley in the West. They have consistently supported the State Chamber initiatives.
In the years 2006 and 2007 Mr Thaheimer was nominated by the SDNCC
to compete in the prestigious Small Business Advocate of the Year
competition conducted by the Cal State Chamber of Commerce.
In the years 2007 and 2008 Mr Thalheimer was amember of the SDNCC Board of Directors.
In every vote Mr Thalheimer expressed his true conservative credentials by being consistently pro-business and anti-regulatory.
He supported bringing over-seas business to the Chamber members and the District. His support for our local pro-business ballot initiatives has been 2nd to none. Tuesday is a day for conservatives
to support the leadsership that Mr Thalheimerhas provided us all over these past 20 years of his community involvement. VOTE: PLT!
marshalls toast. done. his latest email is disgusting. not to mention filled with lies. YOU YOURSELF have endorsed the GAY MARRIAGE loving mayor and yet you act as if you didn't. you practically had an orgy with the reporter at city beat. gee, he couldn't believe you knew all those show tunes. very manly, and not too gayish on your part. freak.
in reference to the Anonymous post " marshalls toast".6-1@10:03am
Obviously this poster has a personal axe to grind and he's speaking directly to MM. His comments on do not reflect anyone's but his OWN.
The last City Beat article by Carl Luna posted 5-27 contains none of that noted by this poster.

>>Upon learning of Dave Rolland’s theatrical past, Merrifield broke into song, serenading the CityBeat editor with show tunes several times. And he wasn’t even drunk.
derrrrrr
Re: the CityBeat link,it's very complimentry to Merrifiled. Thalheimer comes off clueless. Who'd have guessed?
LETS TONE DOWN THE MERRIFIELD V. THALHEIMER POSTS. THE TWO MEN ARE SIMPLY NOT THAT FAR APART, AND EITHER WOULD BE BETTER THAN LIGHTNER. WE NEED THE CENTER-RIGHT TO WALK OUT OF THIS ELECTION UNIFIED WITH EITHER MERRIFIELD OR THALHEIMER.
