Have you Noticed?

Has anyone noted the number of Democrats and liberals posting comments here at Red County in the last several weeks? That's fine with me, by the way, because the debate is healthy, even if some of the regular RCSD readers wonder aloud at times why "the opposition" is choosing to post on a GOP blog.
The simplest answer, of course...
Well, the one "known" D-leaning progressive blog in town has very little original content, while few of its stable of bloggers seem to post anything on a regular basis. Few comments, also, by comparison. It appears our left-leaning friends would rather come here for a bit of toe-to-toe than find little to no action amongst themselves.
The other answer is that the campaign "partisans" for Marti, George, Lumpkin, and a few others somehow think they're going to influence the average GOP blog reader to support their candidate of choice. That part is just funny.
What do you think?

No problem for me either. I appreciate your sensible, kind, and measured style, Barry.
Going to have to agree I tried reading the "progressive" blog a few times BUT IT IS SO DAMN BORING. The comments are obviously manufactured.
Its actually quite a bit like liberal talk radio. It doesnt draw readers because its not entertaining... just ranting.
Some folks, whether categorized as the ever-failing descriptors of Republican or Democrat, simply like to see what is going on in politics. Intelligent people know that anonymous blogging on a site like this is a far cry from a 'toe-to-toe' matchup. This is a good site however and much appreciated.
As a progressive blogger I have no illusions of converting anyone on this blog to my way of thinking (except maybe you, Barry--there's still hope for you).
I agree that most of the liberal blogs in San Diego are a bit boring and indeed, manufactured. I‘ve tried to provoke some healthy dialogue on SD Politico and it deteriorated into Republican bashing nonsense. That doesn’t get us anywhere. Calitics offers some hope, but that blog is terribly managed and hard to get comments posted.
I think Red County has made posting comments very easy so anyone can chime in with little effort. It gets unruly at times—from both sides—with juvenile comments and counter-productive name-calling, but that is the flipside of an easily accessible blogging format.
I like healthy debate and Red County is a good place to get it on a regular basis. Sometimes we get stuck in our own way of thinking and refuse to listen to dissenting viewpoints. As an Italian-American, I heed the words of Don Corleone, “Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.” Therefore, I try to listen to conservative talk radio and watch Fox media programs from time to time. I can only stomach so much Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, however, and can at least counter what I feel may be an absurd opinion on this blog. I hope my comments are constructive and insightful when I do.
All in all, Red County is a fine blog and for the most part, I enjoy the dialogue. Barry and the rest are doing a fine job and until we get a progressive blog in San Diego that is a little more perspicacious, Red County will have to be my battleground. Mike Lumpkin in ’08! No hard feelings.
For pointing out that there is a difference between Democrats and liberals. I especially appreciate the articles you post and find the debate (most of it anyway) one of the finer points defining our free nation. Thank you for spurring the debate.
Wow, I didn't expect to get any nice comments for that post!
As for keeping enemies closer than friends, my fellow blogger Vito Andolini will be personally proud that such a quote was referenced.
Dems vs. liberals: An admitted unconscious reference ... "and/or" would have been acceptable as well? Just not "liberal Democrats"? Reminds me of an old YAF bumper sticker: "There are Americans, then there are liberals." Man, that used to tick 'em off!
I gotta admit it's more fun to point out the flaws of the left than those of the right. Not to say I wont call out my own side for sheer head in the sand stupidity. Unfortunately there seems to be more flawed behavior on the latter than the former.
Here is an exception. Considering what Obama said this weekend catering to the greenies in Oregon when he all but has the nod locked up, while the rest of us were finding ways to beat the heat. That 72 degrees comment will play real well during the summer months all over the country. I have complete faith in the dems ability to become over confident and spoil a wet dream.
Left-leaning:
I apologize that you find my "management" of Calitics "terrible". However, we have built a site with almost 6000 diaries and almost 25,000 comments. I'm always responsive to questions from users, no matter what format they arrive in.
Brian
Can we expect the same kind of of crass vicousness from moveon.org and huffingtonpost bloggers on your site regarding topics such as "Tony Snows cancer" and blatent support for Chavez and Iran's dictator. On the other side, as a right leaning anarchist I must say that some of theses "cute boy geniuses who are out of touch with the mainstreem" (Lou Dobbs, CNN Friday) on this blog dont present a challenge for me anymore. Nothing personal you all.
I rather enjoy telling an opponent "well played" win or loose. I only got to do that once last week.
