Brian M. Responds

As a counter to the mail in the boxes today (see prior post), the Maienschein campaign is doing robo-calls as we "speak," as follows:
Hello. This is Scott Barnett, President of TaxpayersAdvocate.org.You may have received a vicious and misleading mailer that attacks Brian Maienschein.
Don't be fooled by the smear campaign.
When the City faced a fiscal crisis, Brian Maienschein led efforts to create an Independent Budget Analyst to make sure our city's finances are secure.
Brian voted to create an ethics commission and a committee on open government to defend taxpayers.
On behalf of taxpayers across our city, I urge you to reject the negative smear campaign against the taxpayer's choice for City Attorney - Brian Maienschein.
This is Scott Barnett, President of the TaxpayersAdvocate.org and thanks for listening.

Is this the same Scott who was the spokesman for "Republicans Against the Recall"?
Yup.
Yup.
And the same one who supports April Boling?
I got the mailer from the County Party and I got the phone call on my answering machine. I have to tell you, I am a little confused about why the Party would send out a mailer like this when the taxpayer group was defending Brian. As a casual observer in this whole thing, I have to conclude that the mailer backfired ... I don't know who Scott Barnett is, but he made a pretty compelling case as to why the mailer was flawed. Plus, it just looked like a mean spirited negative attack.
hey HMMMM
Yes County GOP has been doing mailers for April Boling using Barnett hitting Marti Emerald. I've seen two already
Barnett no longer represents the San Diego County Taxpayers Association. When he led the Republicans Against the Recall effort (in defense of Gray Davis), GOP Chairman Nehring accurately deemed Barnett's effort as "Two guys and a fax machine." Soon after Barnett started TaxpayerAdvocate.org - basically a "ONE guy and a fax machine" (for-profit) operation that gives out its endorsement to the highest bidder, excepting probably Boling. (Its completely beyond Boling to pay Barnett to endorse her.) As for Maienscein, follow the money, me says.
I believe Ron's exact quote was "Three guys, a fax machine and an attitude," which is still one of the best quips of all time!
