SAN DIEGO (AP) - Dozens of San Diego State University students were arrested after a sweeping drug investigation found that some fraternity members openly dealt drugs and one even sent a mass text message advertising cocaine, authorities said Tuesday.
Two kilograms of cocaine were seized, along with 350 Ecstasy pills, marijuana, psychedelic mushrooms, hash oil, methamphetamine, illicit prescription drugs, several guns and at least $60,000 in cash, authorities said.
Of the 96 people arrested, 75 were students. Eighteen of the students were arrested Tuesday when nine search warrants were executed at various locations including fraternities, said Jesse Rodriguez, San Diego County assistant district attorney.

I saw .375 and I just assumed you were talking about the Padres current record.
The rest of this is completely irrelevant by comparison.
Go Pads against the Braves!
Padres record or not, .375 would be Tony's current BA if he were still playing.
This shows how meaningless it has become to be a state college student. I was a college student but one would like to think those getting a higher education would put themselves above drug abuse unless there are too many people in the universities cheapening everyones' degrees.
Statistics cited in the referenced U/T article is a big concern...how many arrive on campus with the bad habit???
My social security is in jeopardy from more than the politicans...
dumbing down the college entrance requirements won't help these "kids" either...maybe 4+ years will help them do the math.
San Diego State is not a University to be sniffed at. For the second year in a row, it was identified as the Number One Small Research University in the country. And, believe it or not, it's harder to get into SDSU than it was just a few short years ago. No one's dumbing anything down.
President Weber and Chief Brown showed great strength and courage by going after the drug dealers, and calling in the DEA when they realized the problem was so extensive. Although many people feel the Univeristy's reputation has been tarnished, I feel the opposite. A university willing to confront drug use/sales on or near campus would be the one I would want my kids to attend.
Let's face it, many college-age young adults away from their families for the first time will want to try drugs. It's better that the colleges and universities handle this sort of thing head on.
I agree. Someone actually commented as follows on my same post at FlashReport:
"Big deal Barry. Do you think its any different on any other campus? The cops get some big headlines, some lives are ruined forever, and you get the opportunity to be sanctimonious."
I responded:
"Did I say it was different on any other campus? Maybe it's not, but -- regardless -- it takes a complete moron to send a mass text message advertising drugs for sale. Now, that's STUPID. Felony stupid ... By the way, I'd love to see someone post a message similar to yours about the cops busting a gang full of drug dealers in a city neighborhood: 'Big deal. Do you think it's any different in any other city? The cops get some big headlines, some lives are ruined forever, and those talking about it get the opportunity to be sanctimonious.' ... I guess next you're gonna tell me that these weren't gangbangers, just college students, so that it should be okay for them to deal drugs? ... Yes, I'm being sanctimonious."
I guess SDSU is trying to bring back the 60s - sex, drugs and rock-n-roll.
First SDSU had the huge Chlamydia outbreak a few years back, then all the late night parties with the mini-dorms and now the major drug bust.
Sounds like one rockin party. Unfortunately someone forgot tell the students that the law is a lot more aggressive now on the drug use, AIDS wasn't even around and there was probably enough parking and housing near the university back then that they didn't need to have mini-dorms.
I guess SDSU might once again crack the top 20 party schools list.

Bare minimum they should get in the top 5 for Reefer Madness! (yes they have a list for scoring pot at college and Warren Wilson College currently holds the #1 title.)
I am surprised we are talking about students here, it's about an important amount of drugs... I suppose a drug dealer can "take any shape" if needed.
