No More Mr. Nice Guy: A Handshake Denied

A Picture Says A Thousand Words
In response to questions as to the public or private circumstances of the denied handshake, the Steve Francis for Mayor campaign released the following photo.
Yesterday, Mayor Jerry Sanders admitted to rejecting Steve Francis's offered handshake after their Earth Day debate on Sunday, and instead said, "F*** you, Steve." In response to the Mayor's admission, Charles Gallagher, Campaign Manager for the Steve Francis for Mayor campaign issued the following statement:
"This kind of nasty campaigning is what people don't like about politics. At a time when our city is facing a budget crisis, and a $1 billion pension debt, we expect our leaders to take a serious approach to issues. Instead, the mayor can't display the common courtesy of a simple handshake, and instead makes a mean-spirited remark and walks away. I guess we're on notice for the rest of this campaign to expect 'no more Mr. Nice Guy.'"

"we expect our leaders to take a serious approach to issues."
Does this include professional cartwheelers?
"This kind of nasty campaigning is what people don't like about politics."
What people don't like are arrogant rich guys who spend millions to buy the Mayors office. I think the Mayor said what all of us are thinking.
You can't buy my vote Steve.
I thought the curse actually made the mayor look stronger than he has for a while... and I also like the new 'person on the street' ad Francis has out.
You can't buy vote either Steve, but nice try.
"This kind of nasty campaigning is what people don't like about politics"
I think that Mr. Gallagher is gravely mistaken when he implies that people in San Diego DON'T want to tell Steve Francis F*** You.
I am pretty sure the black gentleman in the "person on the street" ad is an activist member of AFSCME Local 127. I saw him at the Rancho Penasquitos debate, sporting Local 127 apparel. I remember him because the guy is a big beefy guy who looked like he could kick some serious ass. You know; the kind of guy the unions put in front of little old ladies and stay-at-home moms to intimidate them from entering the grocery store or whatever is being picketed at the moment. Maybe a union activist counts as an average "person on the street" in Francis' newfound world, where he kisses up to the labor council, but not the San Diego I live in.
I do believe Sanders said the exact same thing to the voters of San Diego when he betrayed them and broke his campaign promise not to support homosexual marriage by signing the Toni Atkins legal brief in support of the gay marriage lawsuit.
