A great event for Jan Goldsmith last night, with several dozen in attendance, including D.A. Bonnie Dumanis, GOP Chairman Tony Krvaric, a Coronado duo of Councilmember Phil Monroe and Schools Trustee Doug Metz, the New Majority's Jeff Lake, Lorie Zapf of Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse, and the Lincoln Club's T.J. Zane. I'm not trying to be the Burl Stiff of Red County, just reporting the facts. Others on hand included Linda Dealy, Janette Littler, Mike Giorgino, Kelly Bingham, facility host George Coles, and the consulting team of Bob Schuman and John Hoy. The "mystery guest" was Andrew Jones, president of the San Diego Deputy City Attorneys' Association, a brave man to openly support Goldsmith, given City Attorney Mike Aguirre's reported penchant for scorched earth employment practices. "I believe that what needs to happen in the city attorney's office is very important," said Jones, "It's horrible the way the City is being treated. It's important to get the right person in the job...the right person hasn't been there. I had a chance to talk to Judge Goldsmith about all the issues that impact the office. I recognize character...we would all be very well served with Jan Goldsmith as city attorney." Goldsmith praised Jones for his courage, saying "I am blessed to have his support." Dumanis punctuated the evening with a plea: "In a city-wide election at $320 a pop, do you know how difficult it is to get your message across? I appeal to you to dig in your pockets for Jan Goldsmith." http://www.jangoldsmithforcityattorney.com/
