SD Metropolitan's Take on the LC Debate

After staying up late last nite writing up the evening's 52nd Congressional ho down, then leaving work today to watch the City Attorney fireworks at the Lincoln Club lunch, I was trying to figure out when I would have time to compile my notes to do that justice. Then, I read the San Diego Metropolitan write-up in tonight's Daily Business Report.
Why try to recreate such an in-depth summary?....
All the candidates for San Diego City Attorney turned out for Tuesday's forum at the Lincoln Club where they were greeted by a packed house that liked each at least a little and Jan Goldsmith apparently a lot.
In a straw poll for which ballots were collected after the forum, Goldsmith secured 297 of the votes, or 79.41 percent. Councilman Brian Maienschein placed second with 32 votes, 8.56 percent of the tally, just edging fellow Councilman Scott Peters who collected 18 votes, 7.49 percent. The incumbent, City Attorney Mike Aguirre, got 15 votes, or 4.01 percent. Amy Lepine, the former deputy city attorney now suing her boss, departed with two votes, 0.53 percent. (While the city attorney's race is nonpartisan, the Lincoln Club is a Republican organization and Goldsmith has earned the support of the local Republican party.)
Rodger Hedgecock was the moderator, clever and funny at keeping the candidates on track for time, mostly. He opened with jokes about the candidates, saying Maienschein promised to attend two out of three debates, an improvement on his city council attendance record. Maienschein smiled broadly. Aguirre, said the former mayor and now talk show host, had earlier held a press conference about suing the Lincoln Club. Aguirre thought that was funny.
