Musings from Jimmy V

Lots of endorsements today...Mitt Romney backs John McCain. (that will drive my radio nuts) Bonnie Dumanis and Bill Kolender vouch for Jan Goldsmith for SD City Attorney.
My radio is still confused on the Presidential race. It don't like John McCain. Can't likely vote for Hillary or Barack. So yesterday we suggested that maybe John Cox be considered. His campaign has been way under the radar. Given there is no place to turn, John Cox could be an attractive alternative. You may next see his face along side some of the top radio talkers on the cover of Newsweek..perhaps next week....if they all jump on the Cox bandwagon. The time for John Cox may be now.

I cannot believe these ole eyes. But danged if I'm not reading about the airport in SD County again. Half century of chatter about moving it someplace else. Millions spent on studies. Thousands of folks have made life jobs out of consulting and pondering an airport move to....anyplace but where it is at....
Some time ago there was yet another vote and yet again folks said "leave it alone, it's fine where it is," and that mostly should have been the end of it. But no. Folks ain't gonna leave jobs that pay really great to ponder an airport move. So what they do is ponder an airport "enhancement," that will continue the lucre.
Now we guess they want to move parking and expand some retail and build some terminals and change the traffic patterns and run the trolley in and heck knows what else.
Make the case again...the airport is just fine thank you. Leave it alone. Smart folks take Cloud 9 Shuttle to the airport. (costs about as much as long term parking) or have friend drop and pick them up. Traffic getting to the airport is seldom much of problem. It gets a little tight near the terminals but if you drive the I-15 this is a breeze.
The terminals we have now are just fine. I'm not a world traveler but my experiences with Lindbergh Field have always been good.
We understand that Steve Peace needs a job. (why he wasn't run out of the state on a rail after the electricity dereg debacle is beyond me). Everything that man touches turns to...sorry and apologies to Midas...poop. Steve needs a new job...let's put him in charge of dealing with sewage from Tijuana. Let him work exclusively with the Mexican government. Give him a shovel and a big title like Crap Removal Czar...come up with a Mexican Poop Remediation Treaty.
But wait, wanna bet there is another study, survey or project requiring consultants. Noooooo, please!!

Nato is history. Like SD County airport consultants. Nations refuse to stand in Afghanistan, nations that are way more threatened by terrorists than the USA. Refuse to send troops or send troops only if they stay in the Holiday Inn in Kuwait. History I tell you!!

NYT tells me that employers are catching on to E-Verify. They are using it to verify citizenship of employees. Takes mere moments. Interior sweeps have spooked employers as well as illegals. The exodus is underway. The trickle needs to become a flood of returning Mexicans. That will resolve the matter of what to do after our border is secured. Press on.

Nuther NYT item tells of Iranians affection for USA. Not the top nut jobs and wacked out Mullahs, but the folks on the street. Citizens there have generally been partial to America since the Shah. And the ponder is: What's not to like. Most folks love Coke, McDonalds, Starbucks, Corvettes, Chesterfields, Jack Daniels, Gap and Hannah Montana. Oh, and Mickey Mouse too.
This kinda stuff has got to be way better than t-shirts with an image of the Mullah on it, yes?
Maybe we should bomb Iran. B-52's loaded with Hannah Montana DVDs and GameBoys and packets of Starbucks. (okay maybe even Paris Hilton calenders..yeeech).

Those are some nice fat 'PR' contracts that the Airport Authority and the Port Commission give out. How can we let these guys just give away taxpayer money like this
